Hi, thank you for sharing your question. Bra cup sizes vary by brand. Typically the volume of the implant will determine the change in cup size. The amount of projection gained by higher profile implants with relation to cup size is marginal.
While your actual breast volume will not change if the implants are the same size, your breasts may fit into your bra differently with a moderate or high profile. As a result, you may find it more comfortable to wear a different cup size. It also depends on the bra you get, as cup size is not standardized.
I recommend an in person consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and be measured. After I measure and discuss goals with my patients, we then look at pictures of women (my patients) with similar measurements with different size and style breast implants, and they choose what looks right for them. They also get to see what they would look like when the breasts have fully dropped and fluffed and in clothes. You get to see actual results and the surgeon's experience and not a virtual idea of what can be achieved. Women tell me that this process is very helpful in determining what size and style breast implant is right for them. Dr. Ted Eisenberg, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and Author. Thanks for your question. Cup size on a bra is less a question of breast volume and more a measure of projection. Most standard bra measurement techniques rely on the difference of the chest measurement and the maximal breast measurement. So, technically, a higher profile implant will give you a larger cup for a given volume. But realistically, in most cases, it doesn't matter. You do want an implant width that works for your breast to get good balance between cleavage and side breast. I advocate the use of three dimensional photographic simulation to demonstrate what to expect.By the way, if you study breast lifts on long breasts, the cup size is always smaller though the volumes are very similar.
Hello, either profile implant would enlarge your breasts, so your cup size could increase. However, every bra company has their own unique bra cup size and shape, so it is not standardized across the industry. Your final cup size with any breast augmentation procedure doesn't just depend on the type and size of implant you receive, but also the type of bra you purchase. This is why most surgeons speak about breast implant size rather than an exact final cup size after breast augmentation surgery. Thank you for your inquiry.
Hello, thank you for you question. So you can have the same volume of a high and moderate but it is possible that it can change your cup size. The high profile tend to project outwards more and with a moderate they are a bit wider so you may notice a bit more side breast. All in all you will have fullness in different areas.
Thank you for your question! No, I do not think changing profile will change cup size. You really need to add volumes in cc's to change your cup size, which usually takes about 50cc increase. Changing the profile may make you fill out your bra differently. Best of luck!
Cup size is extremely variable between bra manufacturers and it is hard to predict, but the profile of your implant is far more likely to affect the visual appearance of your breasts than your bra. As a rule, we tell our patients that after breast enhancement surgery it is definitely possible that they will need to find some better bitting bras, but most women will agree that finding the right bra can be challenging irrespective of whether or not they had surgery. That's because there are variations both between women's breasts and bra manufacturers. Best of luck with your future plans, should they include breast augmentation.
You probably wouldn’t notice the difference as long as they both have the same volume. But there is a moderate plus implant is you want to split the difference and make the decision easier
Dear lauraleep, breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Once you are fully healed from surgery you will be able to gradually return to your previous active routine. To keep risk of capsular contracture rates from rising you want to select an implant that is harmonious with your frame. Very large implants can increase risk. Placing the implant...
Most of the muscle is just lifted up so that the implant can slide in under. However, close to the lowest area near the breast bone, muscle is often released for a short distance and cauterized to minimize bleeding. Otherwise, there may be an awkward flexing and lifting of the implant when the...
