What is the best type of liposuction on pubic mound?

Liposuction is so easy to undergo under local tumescent with the micro cannulas for the pubic mons for roughly $2500-3500. Do it now rather than waiting. Sincerely, David Hansen,MD

This is a common area to have liposuction performed and should not affect your ability to have a baby.  If there is more skin laxity then fat, surgery is likely to be more beneficial and I would wait till you have kids to undergo this type of treatment.  If fat is the primary concern, find a physician who performs many liposuction procedures each year.  All types of liposuction (laser vs power assisted vs ultrasound ect) give very similar results and are dependent upon the surgeon's experience and technique. You should go to someone you trust and who will be easily accessible through the recovery process.  Lipocontouring is much safer and gives much better results than in the past.  I wish you the best of luck, Dr. Jason Emer.

I don't think that there is one type of liposuction that works significantly better for this particular area. I would use a PAL (power assisted liposuction) device along with tumescent fluid and a 3 mm cannula. But I am sure there are several different methods that work well. I am starting to see more and more patients with tissue scarring from the laser lipolysis treatments (SmartLipo) and would suggest avoiding this particular modality. Liposuction of this area does not affect anything that would cause an issue with a future pregnancy. I don't think it matters much if you have the procedure now or after your pregnancy.

Dear LH711,If the quality and elasticity of your skin is good then any liposuction method will produce a good result.  I would definitely wait until after having children since your body may change and you may need something in addition to liposuction.  Good luck.

While the skill and experience of the plastic surgeon holding the device is most important, I have found that power-assisted liposuction or Smartlipo work very well in this area. Since you are planning on having a baby soon, it would be best that you wait until after.

My advice is that the best type of liposuction is the method chosen by the surgeon you trust. Let your surgeon filter in or out the method. If he/she is a good surgeon that you trust to be truthful with you and get the result you desire, then the methodology is not relevant. That is up to him/her. The timing depends on how much benefit you will obtain for the length of time you have it. That is, is the two years of having a "better" mons meaningful enough to do it now, with the understanding that the result may not last following pregnancy? In general, you should be at your most fit and stable lifestyle to get the optimal results for a body contouring procedure.

Thank you for this question as this is rarely an area patients ask specific questions about. I find ultrasonic liposuction (VASER) is excellent for the area of the mons pubis as this area is typically quite fibrous. Occasionally I also use a laser modality (SmartLipo) to tighten the skin if necessary. 

In this situation it is not the type of cannula being used but the hand holding it that is important so choose your surgeon wisely and perhaps have your family first.
