While liposuction can be used to reshape proportions, even the "invasive" kind is not a weight loss technique and wouldn't result in a 20-30 pound weight loss. Most of my patients will only lose a pound or two with liposuction. In general I believe most of the non-invasive fat reduction techniques have minimal to no results and are a waste of money. I have seen a few results of non-invasive techniques presented at meetings by my colleagues that showed slight improvements in patients who are of a normal body weight with very small areas of stubborn fat to address, but in even those patients I thought they would have had a better result from regular liposuction. I suggest that you work on losing those 20-30 pounds before having surgery then discuss your remaining concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon when you're closer to your ideal body weight. Best wishes and thank you for your question.
"Non-invasive liposuction" in my opinion is a very inaccurate term. Liposuction denotes removing fat from the body using suctioning devices and therefore is invasive. There are many non-invasive devices that are marketed to reduce fat without a surgeon actually removing fat. I do not know of any peer reviewed research studies that confirm the efficacy of these devices. Having said this, I would recommend you consult your plastic surgeon and review the body of evidence out there for the many "non-invasive" procedures on the market. It is my opinion that the best way to reduce fat from the body is to actually remove the fat... i.e. liposuction. Good luck and be safe.
Liposuction requires surgery with suctioning to remove fat. The ways in which this is performed currently is much less invasive than in the past, but does have some downtime and recovery -- whether with a laser, manual, ultrasound or other methods such as power-assisted. Non-invasive fat loss does work, with coolsculpting (zeltiq) and ultrasound (liposonix) showing the best results in studies and having the most long-term patient treatments. however, each procedure only gives a small amount of body contouring or weight loss as compared to what can be done with true liposuction/lipocontouring. you will get weight loss with surgical suctioning, however it is not as significant as one would think and exercise and diet are necessary to keep the results long-term. i wish you the best of luck, Dr. Emer.
I am not familiar with non-invasive liposuction. All liposuction, to my knowledge, requires suctioning the fat which would be considered invasive. There are many noninvasive procedures such as Exilis, CoolSculpt, and ThermiTyte which use various technologies to decrease fat. At any rate, I would highly recommend you utilize diet and exercise until you plateau and at that point try a noninvasive procedure. I cannot accurately recommend a treatment without assessing you personally but do not wish you to spend money at this time for a procedure you may not be happy with the outcome. True liposuction is the most effective procedure and will give you the best result with overall body sculpting. Please contact my office if you have further questions.Thank you.
Thank you for the question. To best help you, a physical examination or picture evaluation is required in order to determine which procedure and technique would be best for you.Dr. Campos
I haven't seen any convincing stats on this other than it lightens the wallet, and I haven't seen it performed by anyone I respect. Obviously my opinion.Diet and exercise are to some, hateful words. However, there are some excellent doctors who specialize in weight loss who actually monitor your health. I would recommend that you seek out some sort of program tht is proven, and avoid the "procedure of the month" that you will likely see in Groupon, and will likely not work in the long term, if at all.
Congratulations on having tumescent liposuction which is traditional liposuction plus fluid pumped into the tissue which decreases bruising, swelling, and speeds recovery in and of itself. Traditional liposuction, first brought to America in 1982 at the ASAPS meeting in Honolulu, was a...
I have a patient that I removed about 2L from her abdomen and her family swore up and down I did a breast augmentation. Other patients notice no change. The key is that my "bigger breast" patient gained a couple pounds after liposuction, AND the next place she ALWAYS had gained fat was her...
The back surgery hardware should not be a deterrent to any procedure completed on the abdomen. This would include liposuction, abdominoplasty, or non-invasive body contouring procedures. Cavitation is a radiofrequency treatment claiming to result in "body slimming". I would caution you to curb...
