Should I stick with the same lip filler consistency each time?

Hello, I have had different types of filler over the past 2 years in my lips. Is it better while trying to build volume to keep getting the same type of filler injected or does it not matter. Specifically, I had Versa the past 2 times, followed by Juvederm Ultra most recently. Should I just be staying with the same type of filler while trying to build volume? Thank you!

Hi and thank you very much for your question. No, you do not have to stick with the same type of filler while building your lips. Certain fillers are better for creating a nice sharp border and definition, while others are better for volume, etc. Each patient is different as each patient has unique anatomy therefore treatment should be individualized. If you are happy with the results from your previous filler than there is no problem staying with that. I hope this helped! Best wishes.

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Assuming you have not had any issues with your fillers, there is no need to maintain the same type each time you have an augmentation performed.  Better to stick with whatever filler helps you best achieve your goals each time, however.

I typically use Juvederm for my lip sculpting. There are two main focuses of lip injections, adding volume and actually sculpting the shape. Both involve injecting the filler in different areas of the lips and patterns.
I would recommend finding a plastic surgeon to perform you lip injections. Most of my patients have results that last at least 6 months.

There is no need to choose the same consistency of filler in the lips or anywhere else on the face. If you like a certain filler, stick with it (why mess with success?). If however say you fill the lips and wish it was fuller, then you can use something thicker the next time as carefully chosen by a highly trained and experienced dermatologist ideally so as to optimize results and safety.
