Is there a link between dermal fillers and cancer?

Question

I recently saw a BAAPS article from 2023 regarding a possible link between HA fillers and cancer. I then went down a rabbit hole off other articles stating the same. I've had filler for the past few years and am now in a total panic about this. Could you please comment on this subject? Thank you

There is currently no proven link between HA dermal fillers and cancer.  These products are FDA approved and have been used by millions of patients for years.  We encourage patients to use medical grade skin care products like Transform MD and to wear sunscreen every day to keep skin healthy.

I'm not sure what article you're referring to, however, if HA fillers caused skin cancer, this would be big news. Frankly, cancers of the skin are due to excessive ultraviolet light exposure. I hope this is helpful! Sincerely, Dr Joseph
