It will be important for your plastic surgeon to take a thorough history. Generally, miltral valve prolapse is mild, has no associated problems and should not limit the ability to have any cosmetic surgery. On occasion MVP is associated with more significant issues. Best of luck!
You should be able to undergo breast augmentation safely with mitral valve prolapse. Talk with your internist or cardiologist about current recommendations for antibiotics before or after elective surgery.
Your surgeon should liase with his/her anaesthesiologist and your cardiologist. Once all the relevant parties are involved in your care and have given you their respective blessings, you are good to go!James
Hello there. Thank you for your question. Yes is the short answer, you can get breast implants with a history of mitral valve prolapse. However I would recommend prophylactic anabiotics just prior to your procedure. Your cardiologist would need to concur and provide medical clearance for you to have the implants placed. Seek consultation with your cardiologist and a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area prior to your decision. Good luck.To your health and beautyDr. Burnett
Hi, you should be evaluate by a cardiologist and they will be able to tell you if your cleared for the procedure and what your risks are. I have done many people, with MVP and they did fine.
Thank you for your question! You will need to undergo medical clearance prior to surgery which is usually not a problem. All the Best!Dr. Tony Perkins
I think that you need to get medical clearance before undergoing breast augmentation with your medical history. Best of luck.
you should be seen by your regular medical doctor and/or cardiologist before undergoing this procedure. they can help determine your overall medical health and suitability for elective/cosmetic surgery. this is relatively common, and we have had patients undergo elective cosmetic surgery with a similar history - without any issues.
Thank you for the question.Mitral valve prolapse is very common and usually not an issue, especially once you have had it worked up by your internist/cardiologist. Given your concerns, best to do so; this preoperative evaluation will give yourself and your plastic surgeon peace of mind prior to proceeding. Then, careful selection of your plastic surgeon, anesthesia provider, and fully accredited surgery center/facility will be important. I hope this, and the attached link, helps. Best wishes.
There is no reason why a healthy patient with mitral valve prolapse cannot have breast augmentation. You should first discuss this with your cardiologist of family physician to see if there are any recommended preoperative antibiotic treatments you will need. You also must give your plastic surgeon and anesthesiologist a complete medical history so your surgery will be as safe as possible.
Hello and thank you for your recent question! I would recommend you contact your surgeon and notify them of the bleeding area and open wounds. This is something that needs to be addressed and not let go since there is implants in place. Best of Luck!
