Answer: Selecting the appropriate breast implant size for augmentation I utilize dimensional planning to help patients select appropriately sized breast implants, which involves matching breast implant dimensions to the patient's chest wall dimensions. Chest wall dimensions include the breast base width, as well as the amount and distribution of breast tissue, overlying skin quality, etc. Once the appropriate diameter for the implant is determined, the size of the implant needed would depend upon the profile of the implant (moderate, moderate plus, high, etc.), style and type of implant. A 450cc moderate plus implant would give a very different appearance than a 450cc high profile implant; a 450cc moderate plus implant would look minimally different than a 475cc moderate plus implant. I generally advise patients to allow me to select the final implant size (style / profile is decided pre-operatively) based on pocket dimensions during surgery.I always recommend that patients consult with board-certified plastic surgeons who are experienced at performing breast augmentations, and take the time to be certain that you have clearly communicated your desired post-operative appearance with your surgeon. Changes in breast appearance with weight changes or pregnancies following augmentation can never be predicted with certainty. You should definitely discuss your goal weight with your surgeon, as well as how weight changes have influenced your breast size / appearance in the past.Good luck.

Answer: Breast implant size for augmentation Thank you for sharing. Even with these photos and your information it is too imprecise to decide what size implants to use. It's best handled by an in person exam with a good discussion and sizing centered around your goals. There are too many factors that can change what will fit you best. I recommend in person exams for these situations. Best wishes

Answer: Would 475cc be too big? Thank you for the question and pictures. Although potentially useful to some degree, online “consultations” cannot be as precise as necessary. Ultimately, careful communication of your goals, careful measurements (dimensional planning), careful selection of appropriate breast implants and skillful execution of the procedure will be important steps in achieving your goals. Generally speaking, the best online advice I can give to ladies who are considering breast augmentation surgery is:1. Concentrate on choosing your plastic surgeon carefully. Concentrate on appropriate training, certification, and the ability of the plastic surgeon to achieve the results you are looking for. Ask to see lots of examples of his/her work. 2. Have a full discussion and communication regarding your desired goals with your plastic surgeon. This communication will be critical in determining breast implant size/type/profile will most likely help achieve your goals. In my practice, the use of photographs of “goal” pictures (and breasts that are too big or too small) is very helpful. I have found that the use of words such as “natural” or “C or D cup” or "proportionate" etc means different things to different people and therefore prove unhelpful. Also, as you know, cup size varies depending on him who makes the bra; therefore, discussing desired cup size may also be inaccurate. 3. Once you feel you have communicated your goals clearly, allow your plastic surgeon to use his/her years of experience/judgment to choose the breast implant size/profile that will best meet your goals. Again, in my practice, this decision is usually made during surgery. I hope this (and the attached link) help.

Answer: Implant Selection Thank you for sharing your photos. I would recommend achieving your goal weight before any sizing, as the appropriate size will probably change. It is much better to accurately discuss implant volume and projection with an in office exam and detailed measurements. In order to make an accurate size recommendation, I would need to assess your chest wall and breast mound measurements/characteristics. I use these measurements to help me during the sizing process to guide you to a safe result for your chest wall and just as important, one that meets your end desires. The next step is to try on this range of implants in the office with your doctor. The key to this success is showing your surgeon the body proportion you desire with a bra sizer and allowing your surgeon to guide you to the right implant. It will be much easier to communicate in implant cc's than cup size when determining the appropriate implant for you during the sizing process. In addition, review of photos and use of rice bags can be very helpful to the patient and surgeon in achieving a safe and happy result. Close intereaction and involvement from your surgeon during this process can help alleviate the anxiety and fears of choosing the right size. I wish you a safe recovery and fantastic result.Dr. Gill

Answer: Choosing the Correct Breast Implant Size You ask a very difficult question for many of us to answer. Size is so specific to your breast measurements and what you want to look like. That can only be determined by the examining physician. Sizing is pretty specific to your breast base diameter measurement taken by your surgeon. If the 475 cc implants fits those measurements and you are ok with how big it makes you look when you put it into a bra then it is perfect for you. If it does not fit your breast base diameter then it is not the right implant for you and you need to choose a different implant. The way we pick implants is based on your anatomy and what you tell us you want to look like. Implants as you are aware of now that you have had a consult come in flat, medium and tall heights. You have to decide which look you want because each one gives you a very different look.
