Is extreme hot flashes normal after a BA?

The breasts are hormonally active organs and it is certainly possible that altering their anatomy through surgery can have unanticipated systemic effects along with the stress of healing from surgery. Check with your plastic surgeon to make sure that everything is healing as expected and ask your primary care provider if any additional workup is recommended.

Hi.  This is not a normal symptom after breast augmentation.  It requires further medical evaluation, on the off chance that this could represent an atypical post-op infection.  Do you have a fever when you have these "hot flashes"?  Is there any increased warmth to the touch in the breast area?  Does your incision look red or inflamed?

While hot flashes can happen in your mid-40's it is best first to rule out infection as a cause. Best to review this with your surgeon and your PMD.

Hot flashes are not "normal" after breast augmentation. A bacteremia (blood infection) can cause this type of fever/chills - but it seems a bit late after surgery for that. It may just be menopausal hot flashes happening close to this surgery. See your plastic surgeon to rule out infection, and your primary care doctor as well. 

This is not a typical problem after Breast augmentation.  Infections can do this but it is rather late to present like this.  I suspect it is menopause coincidentally starting now.  Could be drug fever and several other things.You should certainly see you surgeon and regular doctor soon to identify the cause.

The kind of symptoms that you describe could result from a
variety of post-operative conditions and is important to rule out any serious
medical conditions that could be treated.
Fevers and chills and sweat such as you describe may be a indication of
a low- level grade infection or fluid collection such as a seroma.Seromas inside the breast pocket or low grade
lung infection following your anesthetic or even infection within the breast
itself or soft tissue infection surrounding the implant would be the most
important medical conditions to rule out.
Other hormonal changes or endocrine changes related to the anesthesia or
to early menopause are important to rule out, but less medically critical than
those directly related to the welfare of your breast implant surgery. I would encourage you to seek a sooner
appointment with your plastic surgeon or even visit the nearest Emergency
Department if your symptoms persist.
