I only ever consulted one Dr which was Dr James Southwell Kelly. He came across as calm, professional, well educated and very detailed and likes to do things properly and thoroughly. I checked into St. Luke's private hospital at 6.30am which was seamless I was first to be done and I remember talking to anaesthetic nurse and anaesthetist (what a doll she was!) no pain on inserting canula - then that was the last thing I remember before I was awoken in recovery circa 3.30pm and chatted to PACU nurses. I was given a pan as busting for a wee (given 2L of fluid intraoperatively) which had made my blood pressure higher than normal. I got an iceblock (omg heaven) the nurse was gorgeous and funny. The Dr saw me in recovery and then I went to the Ward. I can say I felt no pain really. I also had a large burn scar removed from my stomach which meant I had a JP drain on my pubic mound and a "pain buster" delivering local anaesthetic into the large incision. When first attempting to get out of bed my blood pressure was a bit low and I felt feint and nauseous but nurse encouraged fluids and lemonade and then I was ok. Moving was very awkward/painful. The binder I had on was very tight and I had to loosen. Air con was not working and I started to sweat and get a bit anxious. I had to have pillows under knees and head elevated so I have ended up with upper back spasms as this sleeping position killed me. As it's necessary to walk hunched over its agony. I only needed antibiotics and Panadol. I asked for endone once when I started to feel my nose a bit (pain score 3) 3 days post op I don't want to stand straight as I feel stomach is too tight. As I had tight abs he only stitched 1cm of those, the rest of procedure was skin/scar removal and new belly button. No pain in nose it's been easy to irrigate with special spray and applying chlorsig cream to stitches. I slept terribly in hospital 1st night had horrific nightmare so opted to discharge and go home with drains and pain buster still in me. DO NOT DO THIS I became so anxious as I had no help at home and moving was extremely difficult and painful without nursing help. Luckily I had Valium. I was scripted antiobiotics and Tramal which I took. My back continued to spasm as hunched over to walk. Stay in hospital until your drains are out and you can sit up without major pain. It has been remarkably easy I drove myself to Dr 2nd day post op to have drains etc out. Not painful when that was done. I will attach some photos. 1st photo in gown is after getting back to ward 2nd photo is 2nd day (at home) 3rd photo is taken 3rd day post op after drain and "pain buster removed" Updated on 9 Dec 2016: Updated on 12 Dec 2016: No pain killers needed today, still have sore back as can't walk upright as stomach feels too tight. Got Bactroban for my belly button as it seemed a little red. Drain hole is not red and is healing well. I have been using nasal spray, chlorsig on nasal sutures. Very over blocked leaking nose! Was out in public since 2nd day post op stares are not too bad. Been using Hirudoid cream on bruising on my eyes. I can't get to bruising under tape though. Finding it super hard to rest as moving house in a week! Probably overdid it after taking 1000mg circumin and Mobic (NSAID) which made me feel normal and pain free. Today has been more relaxed with only two outings. Updated on 15 Dec 2016: I have to keep on another week. Sweating whilst packing house and at night it gets itchy underneath. Maybe book your rhino in winter :) Still swollen and nostrils not even. Hopefully everything goes into proper shape in a few months. Able to get massage yesterday and lay flat on abs. My hip flexors and back were like rocks. Nearly able to stand completely straight without feeling my abdomen is about to burst open. Drain hole is closing but new belly button is still oozing. Very very over my blocked nose and people staring at me. I can't hide at home need to be at work and running errands. Updated on 23 Dec 2016: 2 weeks... 2 long weeks. I understand why it was necessary to have cast and bandages on longer than everyone else. As my skin is so thin especially on my nose the surgeon chose to place facia from my abdomen over the remodelled bone then put my skin back on. I had stitches above bridge holding transplanted facia in place. My tip is filled with stitches and is still very swollen and sore if touched. Nose is numb. Bridge is sore and a slight bump on one side. I am sure it will all resolve as time passes. My new belly button is very cute and healing very well. The incision and stitches from my abdominoplasty is still covered with the tape and I still feel a bit tight if I try and stand up very straight. I have a follow up appt in 6 weeks. Updated on 24 Dec 2016: Photo taken at hairdresser. Getting someone else to wash your hair is awesome as no danger of you bumping your new and very expensive nose! Updated on 31 Dec 2016: Nose tip is filled with stitches I have 2 lumps on side of bridge of my nose, assuming it's grafted cartilage. I can just feel it but barely see it. Abdominal internal stitches are lumpy and ropey in places. Thin external scar which will be hidden by tattoo one day. Very happy with healing belly button! Stomach is super flat. Still have indents on my abs from internal sutures. This will disappear I am told. Could not stay out all night after a big meal and champagne. Felt bloated and tight. All in all it was worth it. Updated on 9 Feb 2017: They are shonky. Their estimates are works of fiction. They send invoices 6 weeks later printed on a dot matrix printer that are inflated by 320%!!!!!! Avoid this hospital at all costs. Insist on itemised estimate BASED ON TIME SURGEON TAKes. Not item number or surgeons wording... Updated on 22 Sep 2017: Rhino 9 months later is not good. Bridge crooked, lumps, tip mishapen and my nose is bigger than before!!! large scar on stomach has adhered so I have tight scar cutting flesh in half. Swelling of surgery on nose hid imperfections :( think long and hard and go to someone who just does rhino only or be out of pocket and looking for a new surgeon to do revision. I am extremely happy with my recent breast lift and revision surgery. My bew breasts look actually how i expected and waned them to look after surgery. recommend dr James Southwell Keely to anyone . He is a Miracle surgeon. You will not be disappointed. He completely listened to my concerns and the outcome I wanted with my new breasts. He fixed up the horrible, botched breast implants from my previous dr. I am 100% happy. My breasts looks amazing. And his prices are very reasonable.
My husband and I first met Dr Southwell-Keely and his wonderful medical receptionist Sue in may, 2015. From the time we walked into his consulting rooms we were made to feel welcome. I had always struggled with confidence and my self worth as a person was very low. These feelings were compounded by the fact that I was going through menopause. After having three wonderful daughters my body left a lot to be desired. My first procedure with James was a Bilateral Breast Augmentation. This was something that my husband encouraged me to investigate because although he was happy with me and how I looked I wasn't. We didn't know what to expect, but Richard was asked to come into his office as well as myself and Dr Southwell-Keely made us both feel very welcome and comfortable. He listened attentively to my concerns and addressed them with empathy and professionalism. My procedure was booked for 5/6/2015 at Bondi Junction Private Hospital with total costs being $8,000.00. It was day surgery only, minimal pain or bruising. There is very little to no scarring and my breasts are just as I requested. They are well shaped, look natural and sit where they are supposed to, I now have a cleavage something I have not had for a long time and just the right amount of firmness instead of sad sacks of loose skin. We were so happy with him and the results that I had done on the 22.2.2016 an SMAS facelift, lower blepharoplasty with septal reset, abdominoplasty with lipo, fat transfer to nasal tip plus nasolabial folds and upper lip lift. These procedures were performed at St Luke's Hospital. My stay in hospital was five days. Every day that I was there he came in and visited with me asked how I was feeling listening to my concerns if any and answering questions. He even bought his little son in with him on the Saturday, this was his day off. The level of care and professionalism that this man has is beyond reproach. I am a changed woman, Dr Southwell-Keely has given me a new lease on life. I have a nice flat tummy without the awful fold of loose skin that I would try to tuck into my underwear or hide by placing my arms over my tummy, a belly button again, a beautiful curve to my waist line with everything in proportion. My face he has taken at least fifteen years off. I no longer have bags under my eyes, my face has no sag lines, under my chin and neckline is firm. Where I pretty much had no upper lip I now have one. There is no visible scarring. Again the post care in his offices was professional, friendly and unhurried. Any questions or concerns were answered. Both himself and Sue take the time to make you feel welcome and cared for. There is no ego or falseness, we didn't feel at any time like we were a bother just because the procedures were complete. In fact his post care service for what I had done does not finish until February, 2017. Both Richard and I would highly recommend anyone that is thinking of having procedures done to Dr James Southwell-Keely and his lovely medical receptionist Sue. We promise you, you will not be disappointed. Updated on 26 Feb 2017:
I was thinner 10 years ago and when I had them done, my surgeon explained that because I literally had no breast tissue he would only go as big as he could fit. I had breast fed 2 kids and they literally disappeared over night. I had hanging nipples. It was depressing. So after they were done, they were quite small but at least I had something. I was happy for the first 5 years but as I got older, I felt they were too small. I still had to wear very padded bras and push ups for cleavage. I hated bikinis because they had to be completely padded. So after a lot of thought over the last couple of years, I decided to get them re done. My surgeon was amazing. The entire experience was so different from last time, I got to choose exactly what I wanted. Surgery was 2 days ago. I am in pain especially under the right breast. So far they look like they're the right size but I won't tell until I get this compression bra off at my post op appointment this coming Tuesday. I can't wait. I am on the pain killers though. I hope it settles down soon. Both very sore where the stitches are. I'll post photos when I'm at my doctors on Tuesday. Updated on 15 Aug 2016: Size with compression bra on. Updated on 15 Aug 2016: This bikini is fully padded. I can't wait to wear a bikini with no padding!! Updated on 15 Aug 2016: Visited doc and had the sticky bandages stripped off. Very happy with size. I'm healing nicely, no bruising still sore with right side but doc said that was normal. He was amazed at how much I've healed already. Going to buy another sports bra to wear for next 6 weeks. I'm allowed to exercise just nothing too strenuous. Updated on 17 Aug 2016: So I hey that I'm being ridiculous but reading other comments on this site I feel better if i share. So it's been 6 days since my surgery, without a sports bra, i love them. But wearing a sports bra all day, I don't feel like I'm big at all. I've gone out and about today and I felt like I've always felt. Small and non existent. What the hell is wrong with me?? My stitches still hurt, I'm still swollen in my tummy, I feel a bit blah still but I feel like the girls are in hiding. Should I have gone a lot bigger? I just want to feel sexy and I feel like they're too small. Any help or comments very welcome!!???? when can I wear a sexy bra that has no under wire? Updated on 22 Aug 2016: First day back at work and my work dress was too tight across my chest. Had to wear the zip down with a jacket over it all day. Lucky it was a cold day in Sydney! Still feeling pain where incisions are. I can only sleep part way on my left side, definitely not on my right side. Last night was the first night that I didn't get woken with throbbing pain in my right incision. Hope it's getting better. Nipples are super sensitive????????. Hope all you Ladies are well xx Updated on 23 Aug 2016: I peeled the sticky thin bandages off both breasts tonight after my shower. I wonder how long it will take to become white. Updated on 31 Aug 2016: Wanted to check in and ask if some of you are still sleeping with a sports bra on ? I keep waking up in the early hours with a throbbing on my right incision. It really hurts and I have to get up and take something for the pain. Also I'm noticing that my left breast is larger than my right as they are settling. Will this adjust?? I'm starting to feel like they will be too small. ????
what motivated me to have a breast augmentation was that I was very unhappy with size and shape of my breasts. They were too large and droopy for me. I'm not very tall, recently lost 15kilos and haven't had children. Dr.Southwell-Keely and I discussed the options for me and we agreed that reducing the my breast size and changing the shape of them with implants was the way to go.
To say I am pleased with the results is an understatement. Not a day has gone by without my being complimented by friends and colleagues. The entire experience was positive for me. The pain was minimal and I am ecstatic with the results! I haven't stopped smiling since my surgery and that's all thanks to Dr S K.
After 18 years my breast implants needed replacing. Following a consultation with Dr James I felt confident with the decision to go ahead with the removal of the old implants, new implants with breast lift. The op went exactly as discussed with little to no pain following. I am now 6 months post op and my recovery has been exceptional. Very happy with the result.
During 2012, I had a left breast mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. Needing revision, my G.P. highly recommended Doctor Southwell–Keely. From the initial consultation to the final post-care visit, I was impressed with his honesty, caring manner and professionalism. Throughout the reconstruction process, which lasted several months, he was patient and understanding. He reconstructed my breast beyond my expectations. Doctor Southwell-Keely is a wonderful doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone contemplating reconstructive surgery.
Once the cancer fight was over, I knew that moving on for me meant being put back together. The whole process (3 operations over 8 months) was amazing. My left breast was reconstructed using my stomach, while my right was lifted. Finished product looks wonderful. I don't think I have ever looked or felt better.
I wanted this to feel good and fill out summer dresses, bikinis etc. I wanted a good size, but the most important thing for me was that they looked natural. Dr Southwell- Keely gave me exactly what I asked for, I feel so good in everything I through on and love going to the beach now! I really couldn't be happier with the result!
Hi there, and thank you for your question,You would be an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck. I would recommend concurrent liposuction to assist in sculpting your sides.I would caution opting for a mini-tuck. You would be best served with a standard procedure. My preference is the high superior tension abdominoplasty, developed by Claude LeLouarn MD, the French wizard.I hope that helps, all the best,James
Thank you for your question.Young scars look exactly the way yours does. A scar matures over a 12 month period, during which time they fade from pink/red and sometimes raised to become a thin white line. Massage and topical silicone (ointment or dressings) help speed the process along.I hope that helps. All the best,James
HI there, Thank you for your question. It is not possible to quantify the amount of fat that can be safely removed in abdominoplasty surgery, rather we weigh what is removed after the event. More important is that enough abdominal skin is preserved to allow your wound to be closed. That said, I estimate that you could have 2-3kg of apron removed, and probably another 2-3kg removed by concurrent liposuction. The cost varies from city to city and from surgeon to surgeon but could cost anything from $7,000-$15,000. I hope that helps, Kind regards, James
Hi there Lizzy,I really appreciate your honesty about your breast related insecurity. Looking at your lovely curvaceous shape I would advise you to proceed with a lift + implants. The implant need not be enormous, but it will help immeasurably with breast shape, breast projection and in maintaining your great new look for years to come.Best of luck,James
Hi there Jayde19,I concur with the comments made by my colleagues but would also suggest that, if your implants are teardrop in shape, then if may have rotated. If the upper pole of the implant is now occupied the lower pole of your breast, it can assume a flat appearance. Best to visit your surgeon.I hope this helps,James
