There are many options available for scar revision depending on the type of scar that you have. Scar revision requires a disciplined approach to address the different characteristics of scars including texture, color, level of inflammation, vascularity, and hypertrophy. Our office specializes in scar revision because we have both cosmetic dermatologists, plastic surgeons, and general surgeons within our center. The ideal scar treatment is combination therapy that incorporates vascular lasers, microfractional RF and laser, microneedling, Micro-ionization ablation, PRP, topical growth serums and polysiloxane topical gels, and surgery if indicated. I recommend Melarase PM for patients that have dark and discolored scars and Plato’s Scar Serum twice daily for all new and hypertrophic scars prior to any treatment. Unfortunately, it's difficult to determine the best solution for you without the benefit of a formal evaluation. Generally speaking, scars can be improved with a combination of surgery and/or lasers and microneedling with PRP. Below is a more detailed reference list of the treatments available. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert to determine which is best for your specific case. Best, Dr. Emer 1. Vascular lasers (Yellow laser, V-Beam, Excel V) 2. Fractional lasers (Fraxel, Erbium, CO2) 3. Microneedling/PRP 4. Silicone-based scar gels with growth factors 5. Excision / revision surgery See an expert to develop a treatment plan that works for you. Best, Dr. Emer
Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. I recommend biocorneum for all of my patients for scar optimization. I also recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
Dear patient, Lasers such as fractional Co2 and Erbium can successfully reduce or eliminate scars on the nose. It is hard to judge from the photos but it appears that your scar also has a little indentation. I usually release the adhesions pulling the scars down with a procedure called Subcision. This is followed by the application of a thin layer of Restylane or Juvederm and Mixto Co2 laser. Sometimes 2 or 3 sessions over 2 months is needed but these scars respond well. I hope this was helpful. Yours Dr David Rahimi
