You should ask your specific physician who removed the mole. Sometimes depending on the location and how deep the shave was, that may dictate their recommendations. I would recommend not submerging any open wounds until the skin is healed. I let my patients shower 24 hours after any incision is closed but I recommend not sitting in a bath or hot tub for at least a week. This gives time for the superficial layer of skin to be healed and protect from infections. Best of luck
After a shave excision of a mole, I advise my patients to keep the areaclean by gently washing twice daily with soap and water and then applyingeither plain petroleum jelly or Aquaphor Healing Ointment followed by a Band aid. I do not restrict washing or swimming as the ointment forms a protective coating and in 30 years of practice I have never seen a problem from this.
