Question

I've always had this. When I smile, it smooths out and it almost unnoticeable, but its still puffy under my lips. I never really noticed it until someone pointed it out and asked me what it was. I don't know. And I can't find anything like it online. I've never seen anyone else with this. I hate it and I want to know if there is anything I can do to reduce it or remove it. Dear sammontgomery,

	
		You can inject a little filler in between the two bumps to smooth out the bottom lip slightly
	
		You want to maintain a little fullness on either side of the midline, like 2 little pillows
	
		I would not recommend having them removed because they will make your lips smaller

Thanks for your photos.  You say that you'd never noticed it until someone pointed it out to you.  If you look back in your old photos (before you knew you had the bumps), can you see them present there?  I think there are several good options for removing or camouflaging them.  I suggest and in person consultation with a facial plastic surgeon, or plastic surgeon in you area.

Because they are paired and have always been there indicates these are congenital in nature. (similar to congenital lip pits on the vermilion) While these lip bumps can be excised, they will leave small very vertical scars in their place. Whether this is a good trade-off is a  decision you would have to make.
