I like my nose from the front, but it has a bump from the side. Can I have it shaved off?

I like my nose from the front, but from side or oblique views is has an unsightly bump. I'm scared that if I shave it off though, that the front will look worse. Also, I don't want to have to break my bones, I just want the bump shaved off, what should I do?

Your nasal bump can be shaved down easily.  If you wish the final contour of your nose to be the best it can be, you must trust your plastic surgeon and if your bones need to be moved inward to keep a good frontal view than that is what needs to be done.  This won't change your recovery time.  See a board certified plastic surgeon and have a frank discussion about your wishes and listen to the plastic surgeons advice and reasoning.

It is possible to lower the bump on your nose that you see on the side view with rhinoplasty surgery.  If it needs to be reduced a lot, it will require the surgeon to break the bones to prevent an open-roof deformity.  It shouldn't affect your front view.  I recommend a consultation with a plastic surgeon to discuss what technique would be best to achieve the look you are desiring.

A dorsal nasal hump cannot be removed without breaking the bones (osteotomies). If the hump is very small, then it can be rasped down but majority of the humps have to be removed with the osteotomes. The front view should not change in any significant way. RegardsDr J Disclaimer:

If the bump is large and flattens your nose, then osteotomies will be necessary.  A very samll bump may be shaved without performing osteotomies.

It is hard to give you exact information without seeing you or seeing photos of you.  The answer to your question depends on exactly what you need.  Yes, you can remove a bump on the bridge of your nose.  This can be done in 2 ways; osteotomies or rasping...but it depends on the bump.
