Blue plastic inside nose after rhinoplasty. What is this?

Question

I've done my rhinoplasty in another country about 2 months ago (so isn't like I can just jump to my doctor on this one)... I've noticed this blue plastic on my "nose bridge" but I feel no pain or discomfort.. But i still have to constantly clean my nose because buggers still a problem. Do you know what exactly might be this plastic thing? Was it supposed to be out my nose? Is this what is causing the breathing problems after so long? Thanks.

Hello. Great question. Based on your description, it appears as if you are referring to a suture. However, with out any pictures or a personal examination, it is difficult to properly asses your concerns. I will suggest reaching out to your surgeon via email or phone and send him or her images.

Your photo is difficult to interpret - it appears to be a close up of your nasal base, not the nasal bridge, and blue plastic is not well seen. Some surgeons use blue permanent Prolene sutures for nasal tip-plasty, and these occasionally extrude. Consider consulting with a local rhinopasty specialist for evaluation - you may benefit from a physical examination. Sorry you live far from your surgeon.  When problems or questions need to be addressed, this can be a problem.  I would contact him or her, and maybe they can communicate with you through email, or phone.  Ask for a copy of your operative report.
