Why do my nipples looks so strange and is this normal? (Photo)

Question

I realised from puberty my nipples went weird, as if they split in half. During puberty they would get dry and itchy so I'd scratch at them, and the skin would peel quite a bit. This never happens anymore, but they appear changed after that. It's hard to describe so I have a pic (top two warm, bottom row cold). Are they inverted or is the middle section just missing? And will nipple piercing helps correct them? Thanks

This is a hereditary nipple deformity that occurs quite frequently. If it bothers you there are options for revision. A nipple piercing will not correct the deformity but may seem to mask it. #PlasticSurgery #Nippledeformity #Nipplerevison #nipplepiercing #BreastAug

You have what appears to be a mild case of an inverted nipple.  This can be treated with a simple office procedure.

To have a cleft or dent in the middle of a nipple is a normal variant.  Putting a piercing in will not correct this problem.  If you were my patient and you wanted this dent removed, there is a very simple surgical procedure which can be done under local anesthetic.  In the operating room, local anesthetic is injected into the nipple.  The dent is removed and the two sides sewn together.  In my experience, this leaves no scar and gives a very normal, non-clefted nipple.  I recommend you see on the outstanding Board Certified plastic surgeons in Australia to correct your clefted nipples.

Thank you for your question and photograph.  Nipple and areola appearance exists along a very wide spectrum, and yours fall well within what would be considered normal.  It appears that you may have a subtle clefting to your nipples, but this is commonly seen.  Hope that this helps.

There are as many different types and shapes of nipples as there are people. Although it may not look like you think it should does not mean it is not normal. Your nipples are certainly within the range of what I would call normal.

Looks like a very mild case of nipple inversion or a bifid nipple.Unless it really bothers you I wouldn't recommend doing anything for it.I hope this helps.
