I have double lumen implants, now 30 years old, never replaced, never had a problem other than encapsulation. Can they be removed safely? I am 73years old, excellent health, no medications and physically active. Want some options please.
Answer: Removal Yes, you implants can and should be removed. Your outer pocket of saline has probably been deflated for quite some time, and the inner pocket may be allowing your gel to leak. I would suggest meeting with a board certified plastic surgeon and discussing your options.

Answer: My implants are 30 years old. Can they be removed? Breast implants do not need to be removed if there are no problems with your breasts or your breast implants. Studies indicate that rupture or deflation occurs in roughly 10 - 25 percent of silicone gel and saline implants over 10 years. Capsular contracture) that can lead to pain and rock-hard, misshapen breasts occurs in 18 - 19 percent of both types of implants over 10 years. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who will examine your breasts to determine the best path ahead for you with regard to removing the implants and then 6-9 months later, if needed, perform a breast lift, breast fat transfer, or breast implantation.

Answer: Explant and Bellesoma Lift Yes, your implants can be safely removed. You will need to get medical clearance which should not be a problem if you are in excellent health. Implant remove alone frequently results in dissatisfaction due to the hanging skin, empty appearance and requires a lift. The technique I recommend is explantation and lift using The Bellesoma Method. The implants are removed, your breast tissue is reshaped, elevated higher on the chest wall and more medial to increase your cleavage. Vertical scars are avoided and nipple sensation (in 95%) is maintained, if not injured during your previous surgery. Later, fat transfers can be performed if additional volume is desired. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Implant removal Dear sandy baron, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. Generally speaking, it is possible to remove implants as long as you are healthy. If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.
