Reversing an overly pinned ear may be possible by releasing the sutures which have held the ear back toward the scalp or have bent the cartilage too much and splinting the ear in the new position until stable.. Actually increasing the length and width of the ear would require expanding the cartilage framework underneath the skin of the ear, as well as the skin to accommodate the new cartilage, and would be extremely difficult and I have never heard of this being done. Adding filler to the earlobe would be a temporary solution to expanding the length of the ear slightly, but this is only expanding the soft tissue and does not involve expanding the cartilage framework. If you cannot readily find articles and descriptions of ear expansion, this should be a red flag for you. If there are procedures that are performed, which give excellent results, have low complication rates, and high patient satisfaction rates, they are well known.

It is possible to release some of the tissues so that projection of your ears is increased. The overall shape of your ears may also be modified, however you would need to discuss your aesthetic goals with your surgeon to determine the course of treatment suitable for you.

To move the ears off the head typically requires a cartilage graft behind the ear to allow for the ear to be lifted away. This can be done with surgery behind the ear.
