Almost 8 weeks post kybella and I have a small area that is tingly and slightly red. Is it working or should I see the doctor?

It can take up to 8 weeks for the inflammatory results after kybella to resolve. Allow a little bit more time to resolve. Consider placing aloe vera to the area of irritation. If symptoms worsen contact your Doctor.

Hi,Thank you for your question.Numbness/tingling is common after Kybella treatments due to the mechanism of action of the product. Nerves are surrounded by a myelin sheath that helps to insulate the nerve. This sheath is made of proteins and phospholipids (a type of fat) so kybella can disrupt this protective layer, resulting in numbness or paresthesias (altered sensation). Usually these side effects are temporary and will resolves spontaneously over time. It seems like your side effects are lasting a little longer than expected but each patient is different. I would continue to massage the area and follow up with your injector for an in person evaluation.Hope this helps!

The study that the FDA approval is based on found that 60% of patients in the study required 6 Kybella treatments.
