Kybella or Voluma? I want a more structured jawline. (photos)

Dear lyssahxo2,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office.  I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable.  It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD

It takes a series of treatments to get good results with Kybella. Keep in mind, Kybella is good for dissolving the submental fat under the chin area while contouring the jawline and making the chin more defined, but a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options. I recommend a combination approach with Thermage, Ultherapy, and Exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is the best alternative for contouring the chin area. The treatment options that are best for jawline contouring include Kybella, Filler, and Botox Masseter Reduction. In regards to the fullness at the front of your face and under chin, Kybella should be the primary treatment for fat reduction and changing your side profile.  Faces that are in circle or square shape can benefit from Botox injections in the Masseter muscle. This treatment can provide a narrowed, streamlined look that can enhance the angular profiles of the face. Faces that are already narrow- such as oval or heart shapes- will benefit from facial fillers along the jawline. Filler injectables can enhance the structural line of the jawline. I personally like Restylane Defyne or Lyft for these areas. Because I don't have a picture of the front profile of your face, it is hard to assess which treatments will be best for you. A complete nonsurgical lower face and neck lift in 2019 can involve Kybella® injections, as well as maintenance Ultherapy® and Dysport® injections. 

A chin implant is performed for patients who have a weak and  recessive chin profile which augments the mandible forward in addition to lateral width, and a small  amount of vertical height on a permanent basis.   Liposuction permanently removes the fat deposits in the neck much more effectively than Kybella

From your pictures you would likely benefit from both. Kybella can be used to improve the submental (chin) fat that is bothersome, and then an HLA filler like Voluma or Restylane Lyft would benefit your jawline contouring. I would suggest both treatments. I would reduce the submental fat using Kybella and then improve jawline and chin definition using an hyaluronic acid based filler like Restylane Lyft.

When looking at your pictures, I think a combination treatment would be a good choice. You already look great and just a little Kybella to the area where you see some fat can shrink that fat and then Voluma or Restylane Lyft can be injected along the jawline to give you even more definition. Both treatments are safe and effective when performed by experienced medical injectors.
