Are lymphatic massages required after BBL surgery? If so when and how often?

I've read some doctors dont recommend the massages, because it can cause more pain and or damage. Is it something that most practices recommend? why is it recommended and how soon after surgery and how often should a patient have them done?

Thanks for your questions! Every patient is unique and plastic surgeons have different pre and post-operative care protocols, customized for every patient. Typically, I would recommend lymphatic drainage massages (a minimum of 10 sessions), 24 hours after the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery. Manual lymphatic drainage massages are required to eliminate excess lymph fluid and totally alleviate the swelling and discomfort. Thank you for the detailed question. Each individual plastic surgeon has their own preferences about when and how often they would like their patients to receive lymphatic massage. I recommend my patients start lymphatic massage 3 weeks after a BBL. By then, the patient should not have a lot of pain and can tolerate the pressure needed to help move the swelling towards the lymphatic channels that get disrupted during liposuction. Usually 1-2 massages a week is enough and gives your body time to recuperate from the massage.
