Hi, I am one year post-op and starting to notice that I have some lateral displacement (more on one side). Due to COVID I didn't have my 6 mo appt. I'm 5'2 and only got 190 and 210 CC implants due to my petite frame. I love the size and how they look, expect it feels weird when I lay down flat. What is the repair surgery recovery like and how long will I have to avoid working out and normal activities? Will the surgery ensure that they'll be fully centered when I lay down?
Answer: Lateral Displacement / The Original Internal Bra Good afternoon! You can indeed have your lateral displacement corrected with the Original Internal Bra, my strong permanent internal suturing technique, which tightens the lateral part of your implant pockets, preventing the implants from being able to slide off of your chest wall when you lay down. I first developed this technique 20 years ago, and today it is the most common revision I perform, 5-6 times a week- it works and it lasts!

Answer: Breast augmentation revision Lateral displacement is common and is due to the implant pocket stretching in response to the shape of the rib cage. Sutures can be placed at the anterior axillary line to narrow the pocket and hold the implant more centrally. Natural breasts also fall to the side in response to gravity and the natural shape of the rib cage.

Answer: Revision surgery Dear Powerful2876, breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery. Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size. While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals. Answer: Lateral implant displacement Breasts will drift laterally when laying down. Your implants appear to be centered under your nipple/areolae. Pushing the implants toward midline will make the breasts project even further laterally. Close follow up with your plastic surgeon is recommended to discuss your options and concerns.

Answer: Is my lateral displacement worth fixing? Thank you for your pictures and questions. In general, the answer to this question is, does it bother you enough to have surgery to fix it? Implant pocket malposition this early after surgery is likely due to pocket over-dissection or lack of appropriate post-op instruction or restriction of activity, or sometimes just bad luck. If it bothers you, then a surgical fix might involve pocket revision with either sutures, mesh, or both. If the displacement is minimal and it does not bother you that much, then don't worry about it. Hope this helps! Dallas Buchanan, MD, FACS VIVIFY plastic surgery
