I am getting a deep plane facelift and lip lift and am very concerned about scarring. I have read that lasers are excellent to assist in this area. 1. How soon after surgery should I start laser treatment to minimise and treat the scars and 2. what are the best lasers to use. I am a Caucasian female 52 years with normal skin. Thank you so much

Answer: Facelift Recovery Laser resurfacing is a useful adjunct in scar management, but I wouldn’t call them excellent in this regard. Some people respond well and some don’t. There is no agreement regarding the best time to treats incisions with the laser. I know some surgeons who do it when then scar is still new, and others who wait until of is fully healed (months later). This is an issue that I would discuss with your surgeon, realizing that there is no right answer.

Answer: Facial scars Greetings,My feeling is that laser scar treatments are generally not necessary if incisions are closed meticulously and under minimal tension. It should be acceptable to observe your scars for a period of time before any intervention is necessary. Good luck!
