Hole around areola incision and lumpy scar (Photos)

Thank you for your photo and question. It appears that you are healing normally. The small scab may represent a dissolving suture, but certainly does not look concerning. It is not uncommon to have some firmness along the scar while healing. This will improve as the inflammation resolves. Gentle massage will many times encourage scar softening. Please discuss your concerns with your surgeon, as he or she is the best person to advise you. Best regards.

From the pictures you posted, all looks pretty normal. In the area you mentioned, it very well could be a stitch trying to come through. Incisions are normally lumpy, bumpy, and red for six weeks. During this time period it's not unusual to spit a superficial stitch as if it were a "splinter." After six weeks the scars form a normal healing ridge, which then takes at least six months before it begins to soften.It's also appropriate to check with your surgeon is always appropriate. It is hard to know if that is open down to the implant or just in the skin without seeing you. I would suggest you go back and let your surgeon look at this area. I would not put that product over the opening for now. I am not a big fan of that product in the first place by the way. It has not clinical foundation to show it improves scar. Silicone gel sheeting does have clinical research behind it. Good clinical research, because every company will toss some paper at you and say they have a study that proves their product works and none of them are sound clinical studies. Just my input. Thank you for your question and photos. Everything you are describing is quite normal. The hole you are describing happens frequently at the "inserted T" site after BL. It could be a "spitting" stitch as well. These heal well with local wound care. In regards to lumpy scar this is also normal for this many weeks out. It takes scars about a year to mature and flatten out. Massaging the scar will help. Make sure you follow your surgeon's recommendations. Good luck. DrMaz
