Asymmetry? Is it necessary to have two different sized implants on my chest? (Photo)

There is definitely asymmetry that you will notice more after surgery if you do not address it will more volume on the smaller side. This is much easier to accomplish with saline implants.

Thank you for your question.  It is hard to tell from the pictures on how much asymmetry you have, if you trust your doctors opinion then I would discuss in great detail with them if you still have reservation about it.  I will sometimes use two different sizes to compensate for asymmetry.  As your doctor said to you, there is no guarantee that it will make your breast completely symmetrical, I always say breasts are sisters not twins.  However, there is a chance using different sizes can even out the symmetry, 25cc isn't that big of difference where it would make the best that is smaller now a lot larger when done.Like I said before, please discuss this in further detail with your PS.  If you would like more information regarding breast augmentation you can download a free copy of my breast augmentation planner that I have put together for women considering breast augmentation, at ABetterBreast.com.Good luck.

you should have a second consultation with a physician who uses 3-D modeling software such as the Vectra system.this will allow you to accurately determine whether or not 25 mL will make a difference to your overall appearance. Furthermore the Vectra system allows you to analyze the volume 

Thank you for your question.  To some extent, all woman have a certain amount of asymmetry in breast size.  In some cases the asymmetry is so minor that the size implants do not need to be different.    Without performing a physical exam, a true determination cannot be made.  If you are not comfortable with what your surgeon has advised, you can always get a second opinion.  Scheduling a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to answer your questions and perform the physical exam may put your mind at ease.Best regards,Dr. Lane F. Thank you for your question and post. Without a physical exam it is hard to determine the difference in size. I would trust your surgeon. A 25cc difference is barely noticeable. You will likely have a great result. Your breasts appear symmetric from the photos.Silicone implants of differing sizes have different base widths. Any difference is hard to tell in the photos.  If you never really noticed a difference then I judge that difference to be small and I would tend to use the same implants in that case.  Two implants that are the same size will camouflage a small size difference. It is normal and natural to have a difference between breasts in both size and shape.  Facial asymmetries are also very common.  Addressing a breast size difference with two different sized implants will make a difference less but there will almost always still be some difference.Best of luck.

Many times it looks like the left side is bigger or more noticeable when evaluating your natural breasts.  More often this is the ribcage, not your breast.  In thin women it is so common to see the underlying heart push the left ribcage out more.  Most of the time I try to use the same size implants, unless there is a significant size difference. 

Careful measurements and using sizers can help determine the volume difference. When implants are selected  a small implant difference may not be noticed.A much larger implant on the smaller side can have some visibility.

It is really your choice. It may be more noticeable after breast enlargement. If using silicone gel implants the base width of the larger implant may be noticeable. Saline implants of same size can be differentially inflated.I rarely use different sized implants unless the size difference is greater than 50-100cc.
