Mod plus vs high profile?

The best way
to determine the size that fits your personal perception of the perfect breast
is to try on sizers. This way you can see how they fit on you, how they add to
your current volume, and whether they fit your frame. Although the surgeon can
guide you, only you will be able to tell what is the right size. Try on sizers.
Measuring a diameter and then telling the patient what volume they can
have (in high, moderate or moderate plus implants) in my mind is backwards. The
patients should be allowed to choose the volume. Then the surgeon carefully
considers the base diameter, projection, profile, manufacturer, and fill
material that will achieve the patients goals of size as well as qualitative
look (natural, intermediate, or bold upper pole fullness or projection), all
the while taking into consideration the patient's anatomic features that will
affect the outcome. The experience of the surgeon and the degree to which
they explain the options to you is of utmost importance. The subtlety in the
final outcome is not achieved by which profile implant is used, it is
determined by the skill in the creation of the pocket, the choice of implant.  Don't let the
doctor tell you what would look good on you. They cannot tell what you perceive
to be the best size.The HP implants have a tendency to look smaller.  The MP implants look very wide and flat. The 450 HP sounds like a very educated choice.

Terrific question! The first thing I do is to evaluate your breast width. I want an implant ideally to match your width. If the diameter of the implant is too small for your width, it will look like you have two tea cups on your chest and the gap between the breast could be unattractive. However, it also depends on the texture and pliability of the breast skin envelop. If the skin is too tight, there may not be a whole lot of room to go upwards. There are lots of different factors that go into choosing a implant shape. Your priorities and the dimensions of your anatomy are key into figuring everything out. So in short, its not a simple answer without examining you and determining your personal, individual priorities. Make sure you talk to your plastic surgeon very openly about what you want. Thank you for the question.The difference between these implants have to do with the dimensions ( diameter and height) of the implants. For example, the high-profile implant has a greater projection and a smaller diameter compared to the moderate profile implant. The moderate plus profile implant as projection and diameter characteristics that fall between the moderate profile and high profile implants.I prefer to have a wide selection of implants ( all profiles) available in the operating room. I use intraoperative sizers and place the patient in the upright position to evaluate breast size. Use of these sizers also allow me to select the breast implant profile (low, moderate, moderate plus, high-profile) that would most likely achieve the patient's goals. The patient's goal pictures are hanging on the wall, and allow for direct comparison.
I have found that this system is very helpful in improving the chances of achieving the patient's goals as consistently as possible. I hope this, and the attached link, helps.

The best cosmetic result in any particular breast augmentation
patient depends on a variety of factors, including: your individual anatomy,
realistic expectations, desired result, a thorough discussion with the
plastic surgeon about the options, and an understanding of the pros and cons of
any particular implant choice. Proper sizing is not just about the number of
cc’s or implant type. The thickness of your tissue, breast dimensions which
include the width, height, and projection, as well as chest wall width all need
to be considered when choosing an implant. Trying on implant “sizers” of
various shapes and volumes while wearing a tight t-shirt, bra, or bathing sit
at a preoperative visit will help you and your surgeon choose the optimal
implant.In general a high profile implant will project more and look larger.

Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on
this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do without
examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome,
taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each
operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest that your plastic surgeon be certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
(ASAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your

The volume of each implant is the same, 400cc.  The HP implant is narrower and projects more.  The M+ implant is wider and projects less.  In most cases, the HP implant will seem bigger because projection makes the breast look larger compared to less projection.If the implants look different on your two friends I would say the reason is they were more different in appearance before the surgery.  Remember the volume is the same so they shouldn't look that much different and the greater difference is probably due to differences in starting breast volume.Don't let they or their results be a guide for you.  Consult with a plastic surgeon and decide together with your plastic surgeon what is right for your body and your wishes for your appearance after surgery.Best of luck.

400ccs is 400ccs, no matter what the shape. The Mod+ is slightly wider by a few millimeters and slightly less high by 3 or 4 mm. If one friend looks considerably larger than the other, it is not because of the implant selection.

You are correct in that the same volume in a moderate plus will be wider and flatter than in a high profile which will be narrower and fuller. But the mix up is that you don't chose the implant on volume. You chose it based on the "look" you want and on your chest width. If you put too narrow an implant in, you will get a big gap in the middle which looks bad.So, if your chest width were 13.1 cm and you like a mod plus look, you need a 400 cc mod plus implant. If you like a HP look, you need a 500 cc HP because that is the correct width.
