Prickling sensation under skin abdomen area after tummy tuck?

Pain, pulling, and tugging
along the incision quite common after tummy tuck surgery. The discomfort
can get worse a few weeks after surgery as some of the nerves start to wake up
and work again. Pain can also increase because at three weeks out patients start
to get more active once again.

Sometimes the pain is
caused by tugging of a stitch that will eventually dissolve, sometimes it
can be caused by scar tissue. Generally these aches and pains and zings
will come and go for a few months after surgery, but usually they resolve.

You may feel more
comfortable if you speak to your plastic surgeon directly. He or she
should be the one to recommend medication to you.

It is normal to have those sensations. As the nerves start to come alive again you can have those sensations. Remember you just had a big operation and there is a lot of swelling and scarring that will occur. Over time these sensations should resolve but do not be alarmed if it takes more than 6 months.

It is not uncommon to have feelings like you describe after a tummy tuck. It can be the nerves coming back, it can be the sutures that you are now able to feel, it can be swelling decreasing, it can be increased activity as you are feeling better. You should check with your surgeon just to make sure it is normal for you but it's not anything you should freak out about. Good luck to you.
