Thank you very much for your question. Unfortunately, breast augmentation is normally considered an elective cosmetic procedure, therefore it is not covered by health insurance. However, there are a few instances where a breast lift does qualify forbenefits. I suggest scheduling an appointment with a board certified plasticsurgeon. He/she can evaluate your breasts, design the best treatment plan, andassist in determining the extent of your health insurance benefits. If yourmedical insurance will not cover the cost of a breast lift, your surgeon mayoffer a variety of payment plans or medical financing, making the cost ofsurgery affordable for your budget.
A breast lift is considered cosmetic surgery and will not be paid for by medical insurance. If you can substantiate that a BR is medically necessary (i.e. you suffer back, shoulder, and neck "pain" with DOCUMENTED medical attention over a period of a YEAR) your medical insurance might cover the cost of the BR. If not, your medical insurance may try to deny you based upon a lot of things such as weight, lack of symptoms, lack of previous medical management, and lack of enough tissue that should be removed. Thank you for your question. The answer to your questions depends on your expectations. If you are happy with your overall breast volume and are only looking to have your breasts lifted but no breast tissue removed, then insurance companies usually do not cover for this procedure. If you feel that your breasts are too large overall and are looking to have them reduced in size and lifted at the same time, then the insurance company might potentially cover the procedure, in that case this is referred to as breast reduction surgery. I recommend you being seen and examined by a board certified plastic surgeon who can, based on your expectations advise you and develop a surgical plan specifically for you.
