Why don't my breasts look round? (Photos)

Thank you for your question and photographs, and it appears that you will have a very nice result. After placement of implants, the appearance of the breasts will change dramatically over the next several months, as the implants drop, and the overlying tissue stretches to accommodate the extra volume. In your case the swelling from surgery is flattening your implants and holding them high on your chest.  As the swelling resolves, the volume within the implant will redistribute towards the lower portion of your breast achieving a more natural appearance, and filling your bra cup more.   I know waiting is difficult, but judge your results at 4-6 months after surgery as most of your breast changes should have occurred by then. The size of implant is dictated by your chest wall measurements.  Once we determine that we can choose the profile based on what you want or need to achieve.

Silicone will give you a fullness at the top (upper pole fullness).

Silicone implants come pre-filled with a silicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural, which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; but they require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if this type of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annual follow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquid silicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak only into the scar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfort or implant distortion.

Anatomic gummy bear implants might be a good choice to give you volume.

These highly-sought-after, anatomic implants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of a breast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking a natural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, these implants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorative or corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, and reduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of silicone gel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked; therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape and silicone does not leak.

During your breast augmentation consultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, and try on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an idea of how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures of the look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear when trying on implant sizers.

Dear nicollete26,dropping of implants is part of the healing process and this occurs after the tissues surrounding the implants slowly relax, allowing the implants to settle into their final position. It can take about four to six months for the implant to drop down to their final position.I understand that you are worried about the shape of your breasts. However, you are still in the early phase of the recovery period. Please do allow some time for the healing process to occur. Thanks so much for reaching out. It is totally normal for your breast to have a weird shape immediately after Breast Augmentation.  They take anywhere from 6 weeks to 6 months to drop into place and to "fluff".  At only 11 days you are looking just the way it should look at this point in time.  Just be patient and you will achieve the goals you are hoping for.I hope this helps :)

You have an indentation along your sternum on each side that represents the muscle insertion. Give it time to settle down.

11 days out is very early in the recovery process and your breasts will change greatly in the next few months.  It is hard to tell what the indentation is from in the picture and without an exam and knowing what was found/done during surgery it is going to be impossible to say.  For now your best bet is to give things time and if it does not start to improve seek an in person second opinion.  Good luck!

Hello, Thank you for your questions and photos. It is completely normal for your breast to take a weird shape immediately after Breast Augmentation. It can take up to six months for the chest muscles to release and the implants to settle in place. You are very early on in your healing process and the indents you are seeing in your cleavage is quite normal for thin patients like yourself.
