Hello there, There are many options out there that can help to lighten pigmentation on the upper lip. Broad Band Light/Halo are fantastic for evening out the pigment of the skin. Microneedling, as well as topical skin lighteners are also great. Lastly, skincare such as Retinol/sunscreen/peels will soften pigmentation slightly, as well as prevent pigment from getting darker with sun exposure. Melasma is a condition with various causes that often is found on the upper lip. This condition can be very difficult to treat, and is mostly chronic. Some of the above treatments can still be utilized to treat this condition, but caution must be taken to avoid rebound pigmentation. I would recommend discussing your concerns with a medical professional. Good luck!-Sarah RN BSN
Hello, generally the laser that would be used to remove hair and the laser that would be used to lighten hyperpigmentation are two different lasers. An IPL would not be best suited for hair removal but works well to lighten pigmentation as well as the picoway resolve laser. Alexandrite lasers can remove pigmentation as well as hair however the settings for each are different. It would be best to treat these two issues separately.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately Laser Hair removal will not lighten the pigment of the skin. Laser Hair removal will only help to remove the hair. There are other medical grade treatments you can do to help lighten the pigment such as Laser, IPL, chemical peel and Dermalinfusions. MedSpa Barrington IL

Hello, this looks very normal to me and I've seen it take up to two weeks to resolve. You can apply a cortisone cream to help calm the skin down. Sometimes you will feel some bumps while the hair pushes through as well. If you're more comfortable you can always ask your practitioner turn the...
Hello, thank you for your question. Actually, the "chicken skin" or KP will resolve on its own as you continue with LHR. You may consider using a lactic acid pad or Amlactin lotion to help with the KP but stop it 1 week prior to your next LHR as it could cause photosensitivity.
Excellent question. If the folliculitis is recurrent due to infection, laser hair removal may help treat this condition. As for scarring in the area, there are also other laser treatments available that can help reduce the appearance of these as well. Your physician will be able to...
