Great question! Unfortunately once you destroy the hair follicular units, there are gone forever. If you desire hair in the bikini area, you will need to look into hair transplantation. Stem cells and PRP only improve the growth of thinning hair, but will never bring back hair that is already gone.Best of luck and hope this information helps!- Dr. Roger Tsai Board Certified Plastic Surgeon
While reversal is not possible, there is the possibility for hair to still exist. There are various kinds of laser hair treatments. Some may be specific for hair reduction or temporary hair loss, while others are meant for permanent hair loss. Also, different follicles may be in different phases of their cycle. If the recommended amount of treatments was not done, then there could still be hair that may grow over time. The effectiveness of the treatment is also affected by the darkness of hair. Overall, this means that depending on how many treatments were done, the type of laser used, and the darkness of your hair, you may still have some hair that can grow over time even though you cannot reverse the hair you have lost.
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, or fortunately for most patients, hair follicles which have been destroyed by laser hair removal will not return. Often patients are left with some residual hair which is much finer. Attempts to promote hair growth with PRP and stem cells are likely to be unsuccessful.I hope this was helpful - Dr. Moore.
Although laser hair removal is intended to be a permanent treatment for hair growth, in some cases, it is possible that not all the follicles are destroyed and hair will continue to grow. If hair does grow back , the follicles are usually very thin and not the same density as your original hair.
Thank you for your message! Unfortunately, laser hair removal is designed to destroy and eliminate hair follicles permanently. That being said, hormonal changes can cause some hair regrowth after a long period of time. In order for stem cells and/or PRP to work, there must already be hair in that area. You could seek a consultation for a hair transplantation for that area though!
Thanks for your question. A correctly performed Laser Hair Removal treatment is intended to permanently remove the hair. The laser's light damages the hair follicles, which is what stops the hair from regrowing again. After many many years, some light hair regrowth may be possible on its own - but this is usually very thin and is not close to the level of hair that was originally there prior. A possible hair transplant to the treated area may be able to generate regrowth of hair.
Good news, looks like the procedure worked well for you. Bad news, you are having regrets. Hair removal/reduction is intended to be permanent. Most aesthetic treatments are like surgeries, not reversible. Often we want to have some tissues damaged or destroyed like hair follicles or removed in attempt to regenerate new collagen growth like skin resurfacing procedures or liposuction. It is so important to understand all the implications of the procedures you are undergoing, ask questions about possible side effects, tell the provider details of your medical history to be safe and well prepared for any changes you may experience after the procedures. Don't believe the stem cells are used to regenerate the hair after laser hair removal.
