I12 years ago I got saline breast implants they have started to ripple they are 650cc;s If I get breast revision will I need bigger implants?
Answer: Not necessarily Hello and thank you for your question. Rippling can happen with any implant, but is more commonly associated with saline implants or with patients who have thin skin and/or little fat and/or breast tissue to cover and conceal the implant. Switching to a silicone implant, potentially one with a more cohesive (or firm) gel, can help prevent this problem for recurring. Thank you and best of luck.

Answer: No need to go bigger with implant exchange for rippling One of the causes of rippling is large implants that stretch the tissue envelope. Going larger is more likely to make it worse rather than better. A cohesive gel implant and/or internal bra is a better option.

Answer: Implants If you get a revision, you probably need to go smaller and go with gel implants. The 650 cc size implant is too large for most women of average height and built.

Answer: Options Unfortunately, you have not provided photographs or told us your bra size. One option to consider is fat transfers to help mask the rippling. However, implants as large as 650 cc, are quite heavy and will result in future problems. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Revision surgery Dear angie3030, breast revision surgery is the most difficult plastic surgery procedure performed. Botched breast surgery alters normal tissue planes and laxity, the ability of breasts to heal properly, and leaves scar tissue that dramatically affects the level of difficulty of the corrective surgery. Many patients come in to correct poor outcomes from their initial surgeries. The most common problems are due to implant malposition, bottoming out of the implant, poor scarring, and incorrect implant size. While the type of revision required will depend on the result of the previous surgery and the desired result of the patient, some revisions involve extensive pocket repair that may or may not need specialized external bras.If you are considering breast surgery revision, you should speak with a board certified plastic surgeon and have yourself properly assessed. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Also, you have to make sure that your surgeon understands your breast augmentation goals.
