In High School, I was a B cup. From 19 to 29 years old I only grew 3 sizes; C - DD cup. During that time I gained weight but nothing drastic. However, in my 30s, my breasts began growing a whole cup size every year (I also gained weight during this time but nothing drastic). I'm 37 years old this year and I went up two cup sizes. And, I'm beginning to have some quad-boob in my 36L bras US sizing (36HH UK sizing). Is this growth normal? Should I get a reduction?

Answer: breast growth in my 30s, should I have a reduction? Breast reduction surgery would be generally indicated with women your size. A medical evaluation would be recommended prior to surgery. Your rate of growth seems to exceed normal and underlying causes such as hormonal imbalances or other medical conditions should first be ruled out and treated as necessary.

Answer: Breasts, Breast implant, breast reduction, gynecomastia, breast Dear AMETHYSTWYNTER, Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about continuous breast growth in your mid-30s and the consideration of breast reduction surgery. Unusual Breast Growth: It is indeed unusual for breasts to consistently increase in size each year, especially in your mid-30s. This warrants further medical evaluation. I recommend a thorough assessment by an endocrinologist to explore any underlying hormonal or endocrine issues that might be contributing to this growth. Breast Reduction Surgery: If no specific cause is identified, you could be a good candidate for breast reduction surgery. An anchor or inverted T incision breast reduction is commonly suggested for significant reductions. This procedure involves incisions around the areola, down the front of the breast, and along the infra-mammary fold, allowing for both breast reduction and lift. While an exact cup size outcome (such as a C or small D cup) can't be guaranteed without a physical examination, most plastic surgeons aim to achieve a size proportionate to your body frame. Consultations and Insurance Coverage: It's advisable to consult with multiple plastic surgeons to discuss your options and expectations. Breast reduction surgery is often covered by medical insurance, especially if it's indicated for medical reasons. Choose a surgeon who is experienced in working with insurance providers to minimize your costs potentially. In conclusion, a comprehensive medical evaluation followed by consultations with plastic surgeons should be your next steps. These will help you make an informed decision regarding the possibility and scope of breast reduction surgery. Wishing you clarity and comfort as you explore these options. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen
