its been 7 days since I got my first injection with Botox to fix my gummy smile.. I got injected with 10 units of botox and now I have a crocked smile is this normal? They told me to wait 2 weeks to see the final results.. I am not happy with my smile I don't feel comfortable.. I booked another appointment to talk to my dr and try to fix this issue.. Any suggestions? Should I add more Botox to the higher side?

Answer: It happens and can be fixed! As a woman I totally understand the importance of well contoured lips and smooth skin! As a dermatologist, I can tell you that this is a tricky area to treat. You just need a touch up to fix it! Please call you doctor and I am sure they can correct it! I do many gummy smiles and they can be successfully treated with Botox/Dysport when performed by expert injectors. Injection of a low dose into precise points on the upper lip to reduce the “gum” showing without affecting any other motion. I have my patients smile several times, and animate their face as they are talking to me during the consultation. Where exactly I place it (and how much product) depends on the anatomy of the patient. Best of luck!

Answer: Botox for gummy smile Hi there Farah, thanks for sharing your photos. Botox does take up to two weeks to take full effect, so I would wait until then before receiving further injections. I understand your frustrations and am happy you have set up an appointment with your physician to speak about this. That would be my recommendation to you but you are already one step ahead. This should be easily treatable and I wish you all the best. -Dr. Coan
