i have a very thin top lip that disappears when I smile. What's the best procedure to make it look thicker?

i have had some botox to relax the muscle so it appears less gummy but would like a more prodomanent top lip is there a way of pushing it down to make it look thicker ? or would something else work?

Thank you for your question. You can use a small amount of Botox to the upper lip to obtain a slight lip curl - the lip curl can make the lip appear larger. Ask an expert injector about this technique and find out if you are a candidate. Best,

Without seeing a picture it is difficult to make an accurate assessment. In general, fillers can be used successfully to add volume to a thin upper lip. I recommend you get an evaluation with an experienced physician injector who can determine your needs. Best of luck.

You have a couple of options to improve the appearance of your top lip.  You can have a Botox lip flip which will expose more of the "pink part" of the upper lip.  You can also add fillers for more volume.  See an expert injector near you to learn more.

There are many options for you, depending if you want more permanent or temporary lip augmentation. Botox and fillers such as Juvederm are temporary solutions that add volume to your lips. Fillers could be a trial before you decide to make more permanent change to the volume of your lips. Fillers usually last from six to nine months. More permanent solution would be implants, while long-term solution would be fat grafting. Best of luck!

It is difficult to say exactly what you will need without a photo and especially an examination, but it sounds like you would be a candidate for placement of filler into the lips (Restylane, Juvederm, etc).  I will typically inject the filler along the vermilion border of both the upper and lower lips (like an internal lip liner) and then I will inject along the area of the wet and dry border of the upper and lower lips.  This will give you a nice lip lift, making the lips larger, fuller, and more kissable.  Please be sure you have a doctor do your procedure who has extensive experience with lip filler (I am a board certified Plastic Surgeon).  I hope this helps!
