I had a tummy tuck 25 years ago with muscle repair. Menopause and age have caused lax skin. Is it possible to have revision to smooth out the lump and bump from the loose skin?
Answer: TT Thank you for your inquiry! A small amount of skin laxity is normal following an abdominoplasty procedure. As we age, menopause, or weight fluctuations can all cause our skin to become more lax to the point where there is additional skin that could be removed. We would love to see you in person and help you reach your goals. Schedule a consultation with a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon like myself and we can assess your abdomen and create a plan for you!

Answer: Second Tummy Tuck Dear izzygirl, it is hard to tell for sure without an examination. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Revision tummy tuck Yes, you can have secondary surgery to help rejuvenate your tummy. Since your muscle are tight, liposuction with skin removal in the form of a mini-tummy tuck with or without another umbilical transposition can be done. Fortunately, this can be done with local anesthesia and no drains necessary with a significantly less involved recovery. I hope this helps. Thank you!

Answer: Secondary abdominoplasty Secondary Abdominoplasty is not unusual after such a long time. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with good reputation in body contouring surgery should be your next step. Good luck

Answer: Tummy tuck revision It’s definitely possible to revise a tummy to occupy. To understand what the procedure would entail first means we have to understand what the problem is. A tummy tuck primarily treats, abdominal skin laxity, and muscle separation. If your concerns are related to skin laxity and more skin needs to be removed. If the procedure is related to muscle separation, which is fairly unlikely than the entire procedure needs to be redone. If there was liposuction done in conjunction that left you uneven, then revision may involve liposuction or fat transfer. Without including pictures, we can’t begin to make an assessment. If your previous plastic surgeon is still in practice and follow up with him or her. Otherwise have a few in person consultations with other plastic surgeons in your community. Revising a tummy tuck can be a fairly involved procedure so make sure you know what’s involved with any potential revision surgery. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
