Everything looked great on days 1 and 2 post-op. However, on the evening of day 2, I began vomiting profusely due to my medication. By day 3, during my dressing change, I noticed that my belly button appeared flat and never regained its original “inward” shape. I suspect the stalk may have detached during the hours of vomiting. My belly button makes me feel self-conscious. When I tense my muscles, it sinks in slightly, but when I relax, it is flat. I would really appreciate advice from surgeons. Would you recommend a revision?

Dear Eclectic385117,
I understand you are concerned with the appearance of your scars. As your scars heal, it should flatten out and lighten. Loss of pigmentation or hyperpigmentation may also be experienced but will resolve over time. Always follow your surgeon's post operative care...
You now have scarring around your muscles. if this is cut, you may need mesh as to repair a hernia, and this will cause more scarring. It can be done, but you still may have difficulties.
