Thank you very much for this interesting question. To give post-operative advice, i like to individualize each patient according the surgery complexity, to garantize a better p.o. recovery and results, and even more if we talk about rhinoplasty, that can be very simple or very complex procedure, depending on the nasal structures envolved. In this sense the more complex surgery as more swelling and face bruising, and therefore greater recovery time. But generally, the average of rhinoplasty operated patients can perform a blepharoplasty, after decreasing the nasal and facial swelling, as well the ecchymosis (bruising) around the eyes, usually a month after a conventional rhinoplasty or two months after a Full Rhinoplasty (with bone fractures envolved). Finally, i invite you to post your photos, to give more and better information of interest.Respectfully,Dr. Emmanuel Mallol Cotes.-
These procedures are often performed at the same time. However, 6 weeks post rhinoplasty should be a perfect time to undergo blepharoplasty. If you are having eyelid surgery with a different surgeon let both of your surgeons know about the timing to ensure that they're both comfortable with the plan. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon
Thank you for your question. Definitely ask your rhinoplasty surgeon. If he's the same person you are having your blephs with, that should be pretty easy. If the eyelid surgery is under local ,you are probably fine to have it essentially any time after about 2 weeks from the original surgery. If you are having IV sedation or general anesthesia, then 6-8 weeks would be fine. The only real issue that the anesthesiologist may need to put a mask over your nose and mouth and press on it to get a seal if you are not breathing well on your own which can happen with IV sedation or general. Obviously, you wouldn't want this situation while the nasal bones are healing. After 6-8 weeks, the nasal bones are strong and even pressure from mask ventilation should be OK. Check with your surgeon though as he is the only one that knows the details of your individual rhinoplasty. All the best!
Its best to have the procedures done together. However, now if the side wall swelling of your nose has decreased to near normal levels, it should be safe to have your eyelid surgery. Your surgeon should be able to advise you. Hope this helps.
There is no reason to wait. As a matter fact many times rhinoplasty and blepheroplasty are done together during same operation..
Blepharoplasty and rhinoplasty can be performed together under one anesthetic with one recovery period. Since you have had a rhinoplasty 6 weeks ago, it is also acceptable now undergo a blepharoplasty.
When the distortion and swelling of the orbital area has resolved, eyelid surgery can be done safely.I agree with those that think that they should have been done together.
I'm sorry you staged the procedures. I always recommend that a patient have both operations at the same time so there is just one anesthetic and recovery. Having said that, you can have the blepharoplasty whenever convenient.
Thanksany chance you could put some basal view of your nostrils to be able to comment !bwMr J TaheryConsultant ENT/Facial Plastic SurgeonChester
No, 30 is not too old for a rhinoplasty surgery. I have preformed rhinoplasty for patients in their 60s! It's all a matter of what you want and when you are ready to achieve it. The goal of rhinoplasty is for a beautiful nose that appears very natural.
Hi Emc. Please understand that the definitive answer rests with an in-person consultation and examination. Upon reviewing your photos, you appear to have excessive columellar show. Your tip may also be over-rotated. Grafting is required; however typically septal extension...
