My last drain was taken out far too early (90ml per day, on average over 5 days before removing), I had a huge seroma burst 6 days after removing the drain, It took a month to heal, in the spot where i had regular dressings and compression it has essentially indented and the scar has heal atrophied. I was told at 4 months to wait, 6 have now passed. I'm adamant this needs sorting now, I'm not swollen anymore, but the problem side seems far worse in general. I love the good side, HATE the bad side
Answer: Scar Dear Gentle703684, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what is wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Recommend doing a scar revision to help improve appearance of the scar. Abdominoplasty scars can be quite complex, ranging from the simple hypertrophic scar to a multiplane inflamed keloid. Pigmentation, discoloration, chronic inflammation, scar visibility can all occur in the short term. We begin each treatment with combination therapy using Yellow broadband BBL, Vbeam, fractional erbium, intralesional IIT, and scar modulation. Start with a combination of Plato's Scar Serum massaged twice daily after one week of epithelialization followed by Luminase/Exfolase. Scar consultation and revision may be recommended. Answer: Scar revision It is best to wait for at least a year from your surgery before considering scar revision. Scars take up to one year to mature. Once revised the goal is to have more favorable scar healing. You can include other the counter treatments once cleared by your surgeon to do so. I've included a video about this process that I hope you find helpful.
