I hate my chin. I have been told by my orthodontist years ago that my smile muscles are too tight so my smile goes upwards at the end. Are the smile muscles causing my chin to protrude? Is there somethinng that fixes both smile and chin or do I need two differe r surgeries?
Answer: Protruding chin More photos are needed to give you recommendations. The dynamics of smiling are different from the face at rest. Neurotoxins can help with smiling dynamics.

Answer: More information would be necessary to advise you about your chin. Some of the wrinkles around your mouth could just be from having thin skin. Many of these may be improved upon with either resurfacing, radio frequency micro needling, or fillers. If you have an over projected chin, chin reduction may lead to a sagging appearance of the skin under your chin. Please consider asking your question with profile photographs. Thank you. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Answer: More information needed Unfortunately, you have not provided a lateral photograph. The lateral photograph will allow us to assess the amount of projection of your chin and whether that needs to be corrected or not. Best Wishes, Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: Chin modification Hi yes looks like you don't like the prominence of the chin and in addition you have some muscle straining from the anatomically unique position of the chin (too forward). I think a genioplasty to reposition the chin bone and the muscle at the same time will help. I am not quite sure about the smile part-you have to be more specific on what exactly is bothering you. Is it because your lower teeth is covered when you smile when you mean it goes upward?

Answer: Facial aesthetics and chin appearance Facial aesthetics are primarily determined by facial skeletal structure. Soft tissue coverage tends to be fairly consistent from person to person and what gives each person their unique facial appearance whether desirable or not so much tends to be more based on bone structure. This is especially true for young people. It’s normal for the chin to project more when smiling Guy at A. I don’t think you have abnormal muscles of facial expression. I think this is simply your facial anatomy, which in the end is primarily determined by bone structure guided Issues related to the lower, 1/3 to the face are therefore usually determine by the shape and size of the mandible. We do not assess the chin out of context. It needs to be assessed in relationship to the rest of the man will, and with the maxilla or entire face. I appreciate the desire to maintain an anonymity, but full proper facial pictures are always needed when making an assessment for this part of the phase. Everything needs to be assessed in context to surrounding areas. An excessively large or small chin is only disproportionate based on the surrounding structures. Consider consulting with oral surgeons in your community. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
