Obviously the amount of time you take off after a tummy tuck varies by your pain control and job demands.   in general you don’t want to forcefully engage your core for at least 6 weeks and even then it will likely be sore to so.   I hope that helps.   your body often selects the incision location and type but you also get a say if you have preferences.   there really aren’t plastic surgeons out where you live so I would be happy to see you over here in Spokane if you would like an expert opinion

For most women, I suggest that you plan on taking off two weeks for a tummy tuck. By that time you should be off your pain medication, drains should be out and you should be standing up straight. You will also have your energy level return to close to normal. Good luck!

Most patients can expect an initial recovery period of 2 weeks, during which time you will need to avoid strenuous activity, vigorous exercise and heavy lifting. How long it will be before you’re able to return to work will depend on how physically demanding your job is, so it’s important to make sure you’ll have the downtime you need after your surgery. As for the incision, that will depend on your anatomy and the technique your surgeon uses to achieve your desired outcome. I recommend that you meet with a board-certified plastic surgeon to discuss your goals and concerns — they will be able to give you a better idea of what to expect after examining you in person! Thank you for your question! For my patients having a tummy tuck, I recommend they take 10-14 days off of work, 3 weeks off of cardio at the gym, and 6 weeks off of weight training and yoga exercises. Best of luck!

Thank you for your question.  I typically tell my patients they need about 10 days home around the house and no heavy lifting or working out for a total of 4 weeks.  I also require them to wear a spanx or some form of a compression garment for a total of 4 weeks .  In regards to the incision, I would suggest you speaking to your surgeon of choice and discuss your concerns.  Best of luck to you. 

Hi. This is a very common question and the answer will vary depending on how demanding the job is. The scar takes about two weeks to heal and most patients can go back to work with limited physical activity after this two week period. More demanding work environments might need a month or even 45 days of recovery time. As far as your incision, this is definitely something to discuss with your plastic surgeon. photos provided, you are an ideal candidate for tummy tuck. I would recommend 1-2 weeks off of work to recover and no heavy lifting for 4-6 months. I
would advise you to schedule a consultation with a board certified plastic
surgeon for a detailed examination to discuss all possible treatment options
and what your expectations are. 

Most patients need 6 weeks before returning to strenuous activity. The recovery period after an TT is usually well tolerated by patients. In most patients, the discomfort after the TT is controlled by oral pain medicine. The day after surgery, patients should be able to perform daily living activities.  Every patient will heal at his/her own speed, but that doesn’t mean the recovery process can’t be assisted. Following your board-certified plastic surgeon's instructions is a good first step. Within reason, you could have a "V" shaped incision, but it may not produce the best results. I only tighten the abdominal wall to return it to an anatomic norm rather than tighten it as much as possible. This produces a functional result without producing prolonged discomfort.
