I had a breast augmentation 3 weeks ago. I realized they weren’t for me and have a removal booked in a week which would bring me to 4 weeks and a few days post op. Has a capsule formed? I would like everything removed but received two different answered from two different surgeons.
Answer: Timeframe for capsule formation. It takes roughly two months before a capsule forms. This is how long it will take for the body to form the inflammatory response.

Answer: How soon do capsules form after breast augmentation? Hello @Gregarious480496, thank you for your question. Capsule formation after breast augmentation is a multifactorial process and can vary in timing. There are several factors to consider, such as where the prostheses were placed (above or below the muscle), if there was any kind of inflammatory response, how cohesive the implants were, and even your own personal healing characteristics. It's important to remember that each patient's situation is unique and a direct consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon is crucial to determine the most appropriate plan for your specific case. Answer: Capsule Dear Gregarious480496, 4 weeks after primary surgery is a short period of time for the capsule to form. If you are considering surgery, I would suggest you consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination, you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Capsule formation I'm sorry you are unhappy with your breast augmentation. The capsule that forms is scar tissue that the body places around any foreign object in the body. It is possible that it has formed, but if present it would be very thin.

Answer: Breast implant revision It is possible that a capsule has formed around the implants within the three weeks since your breast augmentation surgery. However, it is difficult to determine without a physical examination by a qualified plastic surgeon. A capsule is a natural response of the body to a foreign object, such as a breast implant. It is a layer of scar tissue that forms around the implant, and in some cases, it can become thick and tighten around the implant, causing a condition known as capsular contracture. If a capsule has formed, it may be more difficult to remove the implants without also removing the capsule. This is why you received two different answers from two different surgeons. One surgeon may recommend removing the capsule along with the implants, while the other may recommend leaving the capsule in place if it is not causing any issues. Ultimately, the decision to remove the capsule along with the implants will depend on factors such as the severity of the capsule, the degree of capsular contracture (if present), and your personal preference. It is important to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon and ask them to explain their recommendation in detail so that you can make an informed decision about your surgery. You may also consider seeking a third opinion from another qualified plastic surgeon before proceeding with the removal surgery. I hope this helps, best of luck !
