Why do I still have trouble breathing through my nose after 10 months?

Question

As the title implies, I had underwent a rhinoplasty surgery and still to this day I have trouble breathing through my nose. The inside of my nose is almost always dry and it feels like it is clogged with muckus but I know it is not. I've used nasal sprays for months after surgery but stopped using them 3-4 months ago. But I still cannot breathe normally through my nose.I've started using water based nasal cleaning kit but I still smell blood

An internal exam would need to be done to determine the cause of nasal
Obstruction. Most likely you have enlarged turbinates which can be reduced with steroid injections or reduced surgically

Thank you for your question. During Rhinoplasty surgery, we also fix deviation. Therefore you should not be feeling long-term side effects of breathing issues. I would recommend you visit your ENT specialist to check if nasal valve collapse is present. Have a nice day

Hello, It could be related to residual deviation of nasal septum or a pathology related to your sinuses or nasal mucosa. It is better for you to consult a facial plastic or an ENT doctor to examine your nose and find out the cause of your nasal obstruction.

I am sorry to hear regarding your difficulty breathing through the nose after rhinoplasty. What you are describing suggests symptoms related to empty nose or dry nose.

Since the nasal sprays have not helped you, it could be valuable to try and nasal moisturiser. Nasogel from Neilmed is a product that feels relatively comfortable to use.

Ideally, you should discuss with your surgeon or an ENT specialist about your problem in see what they notice on examination and what they suggest.

Symptoms of dry nose can also be improved using a humidifier in the room when you sleep.
