Would PRP be effective if started 2 years after hair transplant?

Hello! I have a question about PRP and hair transplant. I had one session in October 2020 (3700 grafts) and I did only 1 PRP after. Some of the transplants didn't grow yet. Can grafts grow up if I start to do PRP now? Or are they lost?

Hello Sledok, thank you for your great question regarding would PRP be effective if started 2 years after hair transplant.  There are two parts to this answer.  First, I do not think PRP would be effective TO THE TRANSPLANTED HAIRS two years after hair transplant. However, I do think PRP would be effective to stimulate surrounding hair growth.  Therefore, even though it is unlikely hair transplanted two years ago will be stimulated by PRP, I definitely think PRP is worth doing. PRP will help but in a shorter period like in the 3rd - 6th - 9th and the 12th months after the operation. if your grafts didn't survive it won't be helpful. but recommended to do it for the survived hair follicles.

However, we offer 4 session of PRP to our patients and do the first PRP on the operation day. We generally proceed the rest of them in a year, on month 3rd, 5th and 8th to get a better result! Moreover, the effectiveness of PRP therapy can vary depending on a variety of factors, such as the individual's age, overall health, and the extent of hair loss. Additionally, it is important to note that PRP therapy is not a one-time treatment and typically requires a series of treatments over a period of several months to achieve the desired results.

Hello, I am happy to answer your question,PRP is a hair loss treatment, it can be advised for to slow down hair loss and make existing hairs stronger.When we offer PRP after hair transplant as a supportive treatment, we advise our patients to have PRP 8 weeks after hair transplant and at least 3 session. . PRP supports the transplanted hairs to grow healthy and also prevent hair loss on the areas where hair transplant hasn't done. There are also some medicines, sprays that you can use to support your hair.
But in your case if some hair grafts didn't grow after hair transplant, PRP or other treatments may not help. Treatments helps only if there are living hair roots, if there are no hair that grow up on that areas, you will need a 2nd session hair transplant.

It will work on the native and the transplanted too, maybe not as it could work few months right after, but it will work in general

At 2 years out from your hair transplant, any grafts that have not yet grown will not grow and did not take. PRP will not help these grafts. PRP is helpful to maintain grafts that did take and help slow down/prevent hair follicles behind the grafts.

If it has been two years since you got the transplant done, then let me tell you that the hair that was supposed to come has come and it is a matter of PRP or any medicine, then it is all a temporary treatment as long as you keep taking it, its effect will be as soon as you do. If you leave it then after some time hair fall may start back I hope you will be satisfied with my answer thank you.
