I did the hair transplant with Dr. Yetkin bayer one year ago and I could see positive result from the 7th month and today after one year the outcome is amazing and I am very satisfied with the result. I was also impressed with the way I was treated from the time that I reached Turkey till I came back to my country. The team was professional and very supportive.Until today the team is following up with me to check on the result. If anyone is willing to go to a professional clinic to get hair transplant done, then I would strongly recommend for the clinic of Dr. YETKIN BAYER.
After my work colleague and his 3 friends had their hair transplants in Turkey I decided it was my turn. They used Dr Yetkin Bayer with great results so thats who I used as well. After initially organising a date, sending flight details and some personal information the wait was on. My surgery was booked on the 7th June 2017. I was greeted at Ataturk airport and taken to a driver out the front of the airport. After a little bit of confusion I was first taken to the clinic but I thought I was going to the hotel. I was greeted by a really nice English speaker named Tawfiq. He explained that I was there for my pre op which included a questionnaire, consultation with Dr Yetkin and blood taken which would be used the next day as plasma injections. Dr Yetkin explained that they would only be able to cover 70% of my baldness this time. I could go back after 12 months for another transplant but coming from Australia it is a long way. I paid a deposit of half the cost of my treatment which was $1500USD in total. I was then driven to our hotel. I had personally booked the Double tree hotel in Piyaplaesa- this hotel is only 10 minutes from the medical centre but means you are quite a far way from the town centre. If I was to go back I would definitely book a hotel in the city centre so I could walk to restaurants, stores etc My brother had joined me as well as he was also having surgery at the same time as me. We were collected from the hotel at 11am. I will give a step by step of the experience to keep it simple: 1- Met with Dr Yetkin who designed new hair line 2- given a relaxant pill (not sure what it was- not very strong) 3- head is completely shaved to almost a zero 4- you are face down on a massage style table and anaesthetic needles are injected into the back and sides of your skull. Yes the injections hurt. They are really painful but its only a few minutes. Maybe 5 minutes in total. They use as many needles as needed until you cannot feel a needle prick anymore. Deep breathing helps slightly. 5- the donor follicles are removed. As you are face down you can't see anything taking place. There was the sound of a very quiet sander and then the sensation of tugging. No pain whatsoever but just the sensation of someone pulling at your head. This was the follicles being removed. From memory that process took about 2.5 hours. 6-you then lay on your back and they inject the front and top of your skull with more anaesthetic injections. Yes again they are painful but its only for a few minutes. The numbing effect is instant. They also put a drip into your arm for antibiotics. 7- Dr Yetkin returns and spent about 35minutes opening the canals. He is amazingly fast and such an expert in what he does. 8-the follicles are now planted by 3 people. Its hard to know if its the same people as they place a light cloth over your eyes so you don't get blinded by the surgical lights. This is a long process of about 3 hours. But its really relaxing just laying there hearing them chat quietly amongst themselves. I drifted in and out of sleep during this process. 9- they then injected my plasma into my skull which there was no pain due to my skull already being completely numb. 10- the donor area is wrapped up in bandages and you are then greeted by your English translator who had a beautiful chicken kebab and drink waiting. Thats the first time to eat since breakfast. Tawfiq explained our post surgery treatment and gives you antibiotics, pain killers and aspirin to take daily. In total it must have been about 6.5hours process from arrival to getting back to the hotel which was a huge amount better than peoples comments online saying up to 12 hours!! The next day was complete rest. We chilled out at the hotel that day and night. Sleeping was a bit hard as you had to sleep with a neck pillow on your back (pretty hard for a side sleeper) but with the amount of drugs I slept for 6.5hours solid. The following day we returned back to the clinic where we met with Dr Yetkin and a new English translator named Majd. A nurse applies some Nivea cream to the transplanted hairs. I believe this is to soften the scabs and help soften the scalp. This is applied every day for the first 3 days for 20 minutes and then for 45 minutes every day until day 14. The bandages were removed and the entire head is washed by another nurse. There isn't a huge amount of pain in the few days after but here is where I will fill you in on what they don't tell you. 1- Once you finish the drugs given you will be in a massive amount of pain at night time. I went to my local chemist and got the strongest drugs they could give me. I was using these an hour before bed plus using 2 paracetamol with 1 ibuprofen every 3-4 hours during the day. The pain is quite uncomfortable for about 7-8 days and was waking me up every few hours. 2- I am now 4 weeks exactly to the day since surgery and the top of my skull is still very numb. Its slowly getting more sensation as each day goes by but they don't mention how long this numbness would last. Having my brother going through the same issues made it a little more reassuring for me. They are the only 2 things so far I could speak negatively of. I have healed well with no infections or major sores and I am currently at the shedding stage. Due to the fact they couldn't cover 100% of my baldness I have now been using propecia and regain to encourage hair growth at the crown. I will review this after 12 months and decide then if I will go back for surgery for a second transplant. I selected at this stage that I'm "unsure" if its worth it only because I am so early into the process that I will decide in 11 months if it was worth it or not but I can say I am so happy I have had it done and feeling really hopeful for a good result. I will post again at 6 months and 12 months. Updated on 8 Sep 2017: Starting to see some growth now. Not sure if it's from propecia and minoxidil or transplant. Either way I'm happy so far with how things are progressing Updated on 8 Oct 2017: Initially I wasn't going to post monthly but for my own personal journal I've decided to post a few pics each month so I can compare the difference. I'm really happy so far. I've still got a very long way to go and sometimes it's easy to become impatient but that's when I look at people's photos here and realise how much changes from 6months to 12 months and even from 12months to 18months. Updated on 13 Nov 2017: So I’m now just over 5 months since my surgery. I’ve had a few comments from people saying “is your hair growing back?” Or “you look different some how” It’s so hard at times to remain positive that it’s going to work so my biggest advice is to make sure you take photos monthly and then look back and see just how far you’ve come. Every month I notice a change in photos but it’s hard to notice at the time. Updated on 8 Dec 2017: It’s now been 6 months. Slowly I am seeing results. As mentioned before it’s hard to keep patient with growth but when you compare to previous months you see how far it’s come. Updated on 1 Mar 2018: It’s been a few months since I last posted. I wish I was here to present a full luscious thick head of hair but I’m happy for now with how things are going. I think I was overly ambitious for the results I would get but now I see the results of someone who was Norwood 6 aren’t going to be a thick and full head of hair. I will go back to Turkey in 2019 for a second treatment. Dr Yetkin said I could return for a second FUE but not sure how much donor area is left to be harvested?? The minoxidil and finasteride are very slowly helping at the crown which is covered now in loads of blonde baby hairs and it can be hard to be patient but I’m looking at it as a babies head- (most) take a good 2-3 years to get proper thick hair. Anyway, for now I am Happy vs where I began and still highly recommend people having it done! Updated on 1 Mar 2018: Photos did not post on previous review Updated on 10 Jun 2018: So it’s now just over 12 months since my HT procedure back in June 2017. It’s been a quick 12 months filled with mixed emotions over my results. Until I have my second procedure to fill the patch at the back that couldn’t be done in one session I have had to keep my hair pretty short as it would just look so try hard to have it longer at this stage. My hair is still very thin but I just think back to when I was pure skin on top and realise how far I’ve come. I still take finasteride 1mg daily. Thankfully I don’t have any side effects from them. I’m also taking a good multi vitamin, hair skin and nail formula plus a very popular hair tonic in Australia made by Fusion. It’s meant to help with new growth, thinning hair, grey hair etc. I just started on them last month so it’s a long term process. I will be returning to Turkey in September 2019 for hopefully a second HT. Dr Yetkin said I could return for a second treatment but not sure until I send him photos after 12months to see what he thinks. Either way I am pleased with my results thus far ???????? Updated on 21 Sep 2018: Hi guys- I have now booked HT part 2 with Dr Yetkin in October. After 15 months I am ready to have part 2 and complete this transplanting journey once and for all. The biggest lesson from the past 15 months is not to compare your results or have any expectations of what your results will be. I had it in my head that I would have a thick full head of hair by 12 months. This is not the case as I now know how much harder that is to achieve when you are in advanced stages of balding. My brother had his HT the same day as me but his balding was receding at the sides and a bald patch at the back- his results are amazing and he now has a full head of hair (tiny bit thin at crown but hardly noticeable) My balding was advanced and pretty much skin with little to zero hair growth so I now realise I would never achieve thick coverage. Compared to where I started I am incredibly happy but make sure you adjust your mind set to a realistic result. Also keep in mind that if you don’t start on medication to stop/slow down your balding it will continue and eventually you will be left with transplanted patches of hair. I will post again after transplant part 2. Updated on 19 Oct 2018: Second transplant 18/10/18 Again I was collected from the airport as planned. After getting my phone SIM card organised through turkcell I was loaded into the car where we drove straight to the hospital. Wow! What a difference it is this second time round. They have moved locations and are now on the 12th floor of a hospital with an incredible view overlooking the city. I was greeted by Ali who discussed my previous treatment and my expectations for the second procedure. Dr Yetkin and his close work colleague came to consult with me and made me feel very confident that they could cover the remaining bald patch and possibly some more of the front depending on how well the harvesting process goes. I then had bloods taken for my PPP injections during surgery tomorrow before being driven to my hotel. I was sent a WhatsApp message that night saying I would be collected at 6.30am- early start but good to get it over and done with. They provided me with breakfast when I arrived as it was so early I couldn’t eat at my hotel. I was delighted to find out that they now use a new type of anaesthetic injection which is up to 70% less painful than last years treatment- and they weren’t lying! The injection now felt like an elastic band flicking you. Not at all painful like last year and much faster to inject.. possibly 2-3 minutes than no more pain. Dr Yetkin and his staff discussed again how many grafts and decided 2000 would be enough to cover my bald patch without over harvesting my donor area. Head was shaved, into surgery and the rest is now history! They were able to completely cover my remaining bald patch and harvested 2250 grafts to complete the job. Unfortunately there wasn’t enough to add to my first transplant area but I’m just happy the bald patch was covered. Surgery took about 4-5 hours all up and I was given lunch and than driven back to the hotel. I slept for 13 hours as I had taken a few extra relaxants this time thinking it would help reduce the anaesthetic pain which I didn’t need after all!! I’m now resting, laying with my head back and icing my face in hopes to reduce any swelling this time round. Tomorrow morning I return for bandage removal and clean and will spend 2 more days basically resting and a little city touring but important to rest as much to reduce swelling. So far I am happy and looking forward to seeing the donor area without the bandages. Updated on 19 Oct 2018: Images from my second transplant. Bandages come off today so I will post some more photos after they are removed and my head is cleaned. Updated on 22 Oct 2018: Yes it looks terrible right now. The first week after surgery is the worst part. Your head has gone through quite some trauma and it does take time to heal. Don’t let the gory photos scare you off from having it done. After day 3 of recovery you can put a hoodie on and I advise taking at least 1 week off work which is about how long it takes for the transplanted hair scabs to fall off or if you can take a good 2 weeks to let the donor area heal and reduce in redness and inflammation. Updated on 27 Oct 2018: Hey guys. I’m now 8 days post surgery and feeling really good. My head has healed 100% faster the second time round. 99% off the scabs have all but fallen off and I’m no longer using pain medication besides one day left on 1 x baby aspirin per day to apparently thin the blood to allow more blood flow to the new follicles (that’s what the clinic told me) I’m feeling slightly tender still but not enough to use pain killers. I hope this gives others hope that 1 week is about all it takes to heal enough to not need to cover up in public (besides of course wearing a hate to protect against the sun) and return to work after 1 week. Love and peace ?? Updated on 3 Nov 2018: Just a quick 2 weeks on (and a bit) update. Recovered really well. I’m still tender in the donor area but nothing painful. Most of my transplanted hairs have fallen out which is usual. Now we play the waiting game. I’ll update in the new year now as there won’t be much change for the next 3-6months if it’s anything like the first transplant. So glad it’s all done & incredibly happy with how well I have healed the 2nd time. Updated on 28 Jan 2019: Just a quick 3 month update. Healed super well after the second surgery. Starting to get some baby fluff growth. It’s nice knowing the follicles are there. It’s all about patience with this procedure. Just got to trust they will come and don’t compare yourself to others. Some people get growth in a few months, some take 6months or more. Super happy so far ???????? Updated on 28 Jan 2019:

I had hair transplant at Dr.Yetkin Bayer clinic in Istanbul. The surgery was smooth and little pain but that is negligible compare to the outcome I have got . I spent over two years hesitating to go to do the hair transplant . As I used to search for so many clinics in so many countries in the middle east but one day I found website of Dr.Yetkin clinic and that was just the beginning. It gave me an impression that this clinic is not aiming for commercial target but they really care about their costumers. The customer must be suitable for hair transplant otherwise he/she will go through course of skin treatment rather than wasting money and time. My experience with this clinic was even more than what I expected. The staff is really amazing . They are so cooperative and they respect every single step and not to jump to catch another customer. The clinic totally clean , the hygienic is 100% and I received all service that I needed. The most important point that everybody looking for is the output which is really satisfied . I am contact with Dr. Yetkin himself and his assistance . They keep following up with me form time to time which is appreciated. Ayman
Chin implant is not a contraindication to beard transplant. Chin implant are fixed deep to the bone while beard transplant is located superficially. I would advice you to discuss this case with your hair transplant surgeon and follow the appropriate post care after beard transplantation. It is safe to have a beard transplant even if you have a previous chin implant. 2 months is a safe period of time to have beard transplant after genioplasty.
