What questions should I ask during a tear trough filler consult?

Good questions to ask are: How long will this filler last? How effective will this be? What are potential side effects? How much change should I expect. Those are the basic, generic questions I would encourage you to ask.

These fillers (belotero, volbella, restylane silk) are good for under the eye, but keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often. It is important that you find an experienced aesthetic physician who performs under eye filler treatment frequently. It maybe useful to review their before/after photos and to evaluate any treatment videos they may have. I would ask what filler they prefer to use (I like Restylane), whether they use a microcannula which does minimize bruising, swelling and vascular injury related to treatment (I prefer microcannula for undereye filler), what's the cause of your undereye dark circles (only dark circles related to volume loss will improve with fillers), and whether nonsurgical treatment is an option for you or if you need surgery. I would also ask if there is anything else you can do to improve the appearance of your eyes, such as Botox/Dysport, lasers, and skincare.  

I would recommend asking
1) is this something they frequently do or only rarely treat tear troughs as many providers do not perform this often
2) what methods they use- I typically combine platelet rich plasma with fillers
3) before and after pictures if they have some to share
