How long does it take for the swelling and handlebar to go away after a SMAS Facelift? (photos)

Question

I had an immediate swollen handlebar next to my left ear after surgery. I contacted the dr and asked if it could be a hematoma. He said no. The next week during my checkup, he confirmed it was a hematoma. He drained it, but the swelling is still there. My doctor said prednisone won’t help.

Although hard to tell from photos alone, that looks like excess skin. That can be seen after a hematoma. It may require excision down the road if it doesn't resolve on its own. Unfortunately, that can take weeks to months. Best to discuss this with your surgeon as he or she will be best able to advise you as he or she has the most knowledge about the particular facts of your case.
