I am of medium to darker skin tone and had an unqualified person perform IPL on my inner thigh/ bikini area. I had some discoloration in that area and she assured me that IPL would fix this. (If i would’ve done a bit of research i would’ve found out that IPL doesn’t work on my skin tone) anyways i trusted her and she completely burnt me and left me worse then before. Will the halo laser be able to reverse the hyper pigmentation of these burns?

Hi,
I wouldn't recommend anything before your HALO except sunscreen and sun avoidance as well as hydration. Stop any retinoids a week before treatment, avoid any peels and dermabrasion for a month before to minimize any risks associated with laser treatment.
There is always a chance that any laser treatment can cause hyperpigmentation. Halo in my experience can be used on many skin types but settings need to be adjusted accordingly. We have had great experiences with treating melasma but the patient has to pretreat with hydroquinone or something...
Some patients have no swelling after their HALO and still have great results. Lack of swelling does not indicate less effective treatment. Degree of swelling varies between patients significantly.
