I am 24 female looking to elongate my chin for a more balanced profile. I’ve been doing research on both chin implant and sliding genioplasty but don’t know which would be better.
Answer: Chin implant or sliding genioplasty You are a candidate for either procedure and can achieve the same results with a chin implant or sliding genioplasty. Some patients have a preference for one procedure over the other, but results will be same in your case.

Answer: Depends on Your Objectives Rational, Thank you for your purchase. Your chin Aesthetics look pretty good. You can have a small procedure to increase the projection and improve some asymmetry to your chin. If you are inclined to improve those areas than a sliding genioplasty would be the best option. If you just want a little bit more projection than a chin implant would be fine for that particular issue only. If I really really press to focus on your main issue is that you have a symmetry to your face on a frontal view. The left side of your face is more narrow and tapering versus your right side. There are treatments for this minor facial asymmetry. You would be best served to have a complete in person consultation from a board-certified Plastic Surgeon or Facial Plastic Surgeon . Best wishes! Earl Stephenson, Jr, MD, DDS, MBA, ESJ Aesthetics, #TruthAndTransformation.

Answer: Should I get a chin implant or a sliding genioplasty If your teeth are significantly out of alignment, then consider a sliding genioplasty which is performed by an oral surgeon under general anesthesia in a hospital setting with an overnight stay at the hospital. Placement of a chin implant is completely reversible, and is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure, it is only done for cosmetic purposes.

Answer: Quality assessment and treatment options I suggest you consult with oral surgeons in your community or plastic surgeons who have the proper cranial facial fellowship training. If you look at your profile picture, you’ll see that your chin already has fairly strong forward projection. If you augment with further forward projection, then you’ll have a deeper labiomental sulcus. There may be room for vertical augmentation, but I don’t think there’s much room for forward projection. I think the lack of projection in your mandible is further back. For that reason, I suggest consulting with providers who have the skill and experience to do more involved surgery, even if you opt out of those procedures. Best, Mats Hagstrom, MD
