I badly want a more cartoonish figure but I'm quite slim. Butt implants seems like the best solution currently, but I live in Denmark where no one specialises in this. Travelling to the UK is an option, but what if I get complications when I'm so far away from my surgeon? Do they need to be treated accutely, since no one specialises here, they probably won't be able to treat me in that case? I really cant think of any other options at this point
Answer: Getting butt implants abroad - what are the risks? Any concerns of infection after butt implants should be treated or assessed as soon as possible. Medical tourism has benefits, but not being able to follow up is the worst aspect of this, assuming a very competent doctor was sought. Finding a board certified plastic surgeon in your area is the best advice one can give.

Answer: Buttock implants I would advise you to go to someone who performs buttock implants on a regular basis. It is a great operation when performed by an experienced plastic surgeon, but can have complications and they are bad. For something as important as your body, you want it done correctly. For those who want a larger buttock, I often perform buttock implants in combination with fat transplantation. Don't make a mistake because it is not convenient. Best wishes to you.

Answer: Having buttock implants with enough duration of stay is quite safe Hello Sofia rise Butt implant surgery has risks like every other surgeries. As a plastic surgeon who accepts many patients from abroad i can tell you that we keep in touch with our patients after their surgeries and help them about their questions and concerns. 10 days of stay would be enough because it is very rare to see complications that should be addressed accutely after that duration Best Regards

Answer: Things that can go wrong Your post sounds like a recipe for bad things about to happen. Let’s start bye talking a bit about the procedure you’re interested in. Why is it that none of your local plastic surgeons perform this procedure? Is it not a good moneymaking operation for them? They not have proper medical training in Denmark? Do surgeons in Denmark not like doing surgery and making money? The truth is in the United States the great majority of plastic surgeons don’t perform this procedure either. Gluteal implants has a long list of undesirable side effects and dreadful complications. This is the primary reason doctors stay away from the procedure. There has always been a demand for gluteal augmentation and will always be. When it comes to complex difficult procedures there is usually a right and a wrong way to do this procedure and it’s more than just small variables. The two single most important variables for gluteal implants is that the implant needs to be placed intramuscularly and must fit inside the gluteus muscle. Using implants that don’t fit and placing the implant above the muscle leads to undesirable outcomes or increases complications. Even when done correctly the procedure has a very high failure and complication rate. The complications most commonly encountered are infected implants and the ones coming open exposing the implant making it contaminated. Both of these conditions require emergency or urgent re-operation. Even if patients get through the initial healing with the implant intact the number of patients who have issues with the implant not delivering the results they had hoped for especially the edges of the implants showing is substantial. this can be reduced by placing the implant intramuscularly but most surgeons don’t perform the procedure that way. The procedure has more negative issues that need to be considered. The most common placement of the implant is above the gluteus muscle and when this is done a tissue plain separation occurs between the muscle and the skin and fat of the buttocks. While the implant is in place this tissue separation does not cause an issue but when the implant is removed the skin and fat slides down with gravity creating a droopy look. The tissues then heal up in this new position and restoring the original contour becomes difficult to impossible. My recommendation is patient not travel for elective surgical procedures unless absolutely necessary. When traveling for elective surgical procedures I recommend traveling the shortest distance. That said this procedure should only be performed by those who have done it thousands of times with a proven track record and know how to execute it correctly. There are a couple of plastic surgeons in the United States who focus their practices almost exclusively on the gluteal implants. Neither one of them are anywhere in my neighborhood. I doubt there is a plastic surgeon in England who is exclusively does glutio implants but there may be. Unless you can find a plastic surgeon who does this procedure on at least a weekly basis with a proven track record you should consider not having it done. The number of women who regret having had gluteal implants is substantial. That’s not to say they’re not also patients both men and women who’ve been happy with the outcomes. This is not an easy operation. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
