I had Juvederm injected into my cheek area for volume. This resulted in a lump on each cheek which then traveled down my face over a two year period. These lumps are not dissolving. What should I do?

Answer: Lumps in cheeks Thank you for your question. Lumps can occur if the Juvederm is not injected correctly, however it is unusual for the lumps to migrate down the face and not dissolve after 2 years. Juvederm typically dissolves after 6-12 months. I suggest contacting your injector to confirm what product was used to add volume to your cheeks. If Juvederm was used, you can have the lumps dissolved with hyaluronidase. Best of Luck!

Answer: Lump in cheek after Juvederm While lumps can occur if the Juvederm is not injected properly, it is unusual for the lump to travel down the face and even more unusual for the lumps to not have dissolved by 2 years.I recommend that you review these results with your physician. Likely the best first treatment to attempt would be to use a Juvederm dissolving agent. If this fails to treat the lumps, then the lumps are due to something other than the Juvederm product itself. Rather, it may be an inflammatory reaction to the Juvederm known as a granuloma, or other more unusual problem. Best Regards,Dr. Stutman
